It seems the last few months have seen DALPA addressing the DPA directly and now an official poll. Maybe the DPA has more support than some think? The timing is interesting to me and i think it has a lot to do with the pacific and Atlantic scope issues. If DAPLPA messes that up it could mean renewed/new support for the DPA.

I have a question here, is DALPA using our dues to conduct this survey?

I guess directly or indirectly we are paying for it, but I still can't help feeling a little perturbed by the fact DALPA is conducting surveys strictly for ALPA Nationals' own self interests. (Not like that would be a first)

I think ALPA is starting to view DPA as a serious threat. I don't think they ever though USAPA was a serious threat and we all know what happened there. It would be a tough choice for me. I despise ALPA, but I am not sure voting ALPA off would be in my best interest. I still have a problem with letting our company have 70 more 76 seaters last contract. I also have a problem with all of our productivity increases last contract. I did a month of reserve in the last year and it was pure hell as a junior commuter. I did almost 5 years of reserve pre-contract and it was tolerable. As a lineholder, this summer was tough. Working 16-17 days out of 30 through no choice of my own for 3 months straight was too much. Before I would have worked 15-16 out of 31. Those 1-2 extra days off per month matter.

I got a call from a NH phone number yesterday too, but I ignored it. Now I know what it was about.

Average Auburn girl on the left, Alabama quarterback on the right,

I guess the truth is, you can lie to yourself all you want about how many national championships you have, but your eyes don't lie about where the hot girls go to school.

My summer schedule resembles yours too!

Scambo, maybe the potential Middle East conflict centered on Syria has management proceeding in a more cautious manner with respect to an aircraft order. Oil prices may be particularly volatile in the next few weeks.

On the contrary, the quickest way to shut DPA down is to have a vote. Send in a card and then let the pilot group overwhelmingly vote no. Or are you afraid that's not what would happen?

A :20 minute call to my rep is going to fix ALPA's "small" problem? Why didn't you say so sooner. I'm dialing now...

+1

That pretty much sums it up for me.

I went to a PUB event a few weeks back it it made things worse. The ALPA guys came up to the table and asked if you had any thoughts. Before anyone had a chance to finish their sentence those guys were bloviating about how you need to see it, never once actually listening. They did it to each person who spoke up. They were not there to hear and represent, they were there to tell everyone how it is.

*not winning hearts and minds*

...just how I see it...

The agenda is not coming from National. The Delta MEC has decided to address DPA head on. Enough is enough.

Index is too busy to engage in the process and work through his reps to achieve a solution. How is the next organization going to change that?

It is on each of us as individual pilots to participate. If we don't, no system will make you happy. You are seeing the result of a decade plus of poor circumstances. Burning the house down, right as we are pulling out of the dive, is only going to take us back into the gutter.

How does a USAPA 320 Captain making $93 less per hour than a Delta Captain sound? Do we really want to go that route?

If you think Delta is nervous about a war in the Middle East just think how Emirates, Etihad and Qatar must be feeling right about now. I've always thought the geo-political risk was way overlooked when it comes to hubs in the Persian Gulf.

I'm pretty confident the runways at Hartsfield won't be getting cratered next week.
Dubai or Doha -- not so sure.
