Shiznit, your playing with words doesn't change the facts. Since Delta pilots aren't cutting the checks for C2012, there couldn't possibly be any cost to Delta pilots, neutral or otherwise. C2012 was a cost neutral contract to Delta. Meaning every gain we got in the contract was fully funded by cuts in other areas. That's what our union brought us to ratify before Section 6 even began during a hugely profitable year for Delta. It's not my opinion, it's Richard and Ed's opinion.
So that's why our MEC brought us a cost neutral TA to sign. Delta's profits weren't "truly" record. [face palm] Carl It'll be "cost neutral" for the company in the eyes of the investment community.. Not convinced the gate agents will think it's "cost neutral".... The "cost" was taken out of DCI engine maintenance and block hour payments to OTHER AIRLINES and put into the Delta pilot PWA. Neutral to the enterprise? Well, yes.... Neutral to the pilots? Well, there's more than a Billion reasons that isn't true. |

Not sure how they slot on "their" equipment (that we bought and pay for). |

What is the value of those slots to both us as pilots and to the company? Since as you say the are contractual, by forcing the company to serve routes that are money losing, how many jobs will that ultimately cost? Not our problem? Yeah... it is. Perhaps there is some leverage there, and I have never said otherwise, but I am not interested in punching the company in order to satisfy a contractual provision that could be meaningless. China is the growth market Carl. Japan is a mature market and the Japanese government has all but said that they want us out. THAT is why I would say sayonara. You love NRT... I miss eastern Europe. Our transAtlantic flights have become NWA. CDG/FRA/AMS and LHR... woo hoo. Screw NRT. Let's go to China and make some real money.
So does anyone have details of this TA? Why announce we have it but you can't see it in order to provide input to our Reps? |

Tell ya what.. Let's do a "cost neutral" contract next time too. The DTW 744 captains will swap pay checks with 215 DTW gate agents!

It's not about routes, but block hours. I don't care if we don't fly the beach markets as long as the pilot block hours remain constant and we fly them on more profitable routes. Lose block hours and we lose pilot jobs. Increase block hours and we grow pilot jobs.

Block Hours
Can someone give me a quick explanation on why block hours is the new chosen metric of DALPA? Why is it the superior metric? Thanks.
For whatever reason, I haven't been paying attention. |

TEN The MEC should do the right thing and pass this along for membership ratification. There is no reason not to do so. Section 1 is the beating heart of our contract. Its clear that the rank and file pilots have had an intense focus on scope in recent years. Modifications to Section1 are of critical importance to all of us. This LOA is going to have a substantial and long-lasting impact on the wages and working conditions of all Delta pilots. (the old language from the MEC policy manual which controlled when a contract change would be subject to MEMRAT). There is no time critical situation here. This is not even a "fleeting opportunity". We have plenty of time to debate this agreement and then vote. The MEC has been flooding us with communications lately about how "democratic" ALPA is and how grass roots participation is so vital and how "We Are ALPA". etc. etc. Well, its time for them to prove it. Let the members have a say on this LOA. Attention Delta MEC -- DO NOT treat us like mushrooms. This is too important. You can start by publicly announcing that this MEC meeting is going to be open to the membership. |
