My guess is the two day GS would have cost the Company more than the one day GS. They will be paying you single pay. I bet it was a question of which one was cheaper.

Same thing happened to me, except it's a 3-day trip, so I lose two days off and, if I'm not mistaken, no extra pay since it's a spill-over trip and it started during my reserve month. If they can't cover their flying with reserves, it seems to me they should have to pay GS to someone who wants it instead of just arbitrarily taking away days off from a lineholder. Yeah, I know, someday I'll be senior.

We were going to do Thanksgiving on Sunday since I was on call, but the worst part is I will have to record the Iron Bowl.

It's a legal assignment. Sec 23.N.10. They can fly a reserve guy into his day off if he is transitioning to a line the next month. That comes before awarding GS flying. Then after GS award attempts they can fly a reserve into his/her X days. They gave you the 2 day because they can, and it's cheaper to GS the 1 day. It's stupid, and something we need to get fixed.

I feel your pain. I was good for 3 days yesterday and got assigned a 4 day trip. This after sitting 2 days of SC. I too hold a line next month.

Once again, when or where did I say we HAD to give to get?

Exactly. It's the results that matter.

The same can be said for DALPA. Forget the results for now. We can't even get our "leaders" to make the case that we are worth way more than what we're currently being paid.

Our collective goals are so low, they're achievable. Kinda the opposite of we're fast, but at least we're high.

LOL. You've unwittingly come up with the perfect slogan for DALPA...

"Our goals are so low, they're achievable!" :D

Similar thing just happened to me as well. The best part is that it's just straight pay for the flying that falls on your day off. I'm sorry, but if a pilot is assigned a trip that goes into a day off against his/her will, it should be double pay - PERIOD.

That's such BS. They should have to offer a GS before involuntarily taking ANY pilot's off day away when assigning open time. Reserve v line holder shouldn't matter.

Just seems like more and more items we never really thought about because the company rarely if ever used are starting to crop up. This leads to more things we need to "fix" in our next negotiations thus diluting items we really want.

Just because it is legal doesn't mean it is right.

I agree with all of you.
