Just because it is legal doesn't mean it is right. |

Expect to see more of crew scheduling's "max performing" of the contract. They REALLY want to do more flying with less pilots. Some said they wanted to fly more....well now you can get it. Oops, forgot that it doesn't always actually pay you.
It's going to get ugly in January with all the 30-hour layovers; the 4:30 average day ("it was the best we could do!") will rear its ugly head. it's going to get uglier in March, which is the new "summer" peak. All these givebacks will cause some serious asspain--just like a nice cool glass of Mexican tapwater. where you been, flamer!? |

So I'm reserve this month and line holder next. I was on the one day reserve list and got assigned a two day for tomorrow. There was a one day that went out to a GS # 6. Scheduling said they can fly someone into the next month if they are reserve to line holder. I am trying to figure out why I didn't get the one day and the two day go to a GS.
We were going to do Thanksgiving on Sunday since I was on call, but the worst part is I will have to record the Iron Bowl. Klondike, That is a total bummer. I also have been burned every way possible at the end of a month. Now I always bid for the last day of the month off whether on reserve or holding a line - just too many ways to get hosed. This is one area that I think we really need to improve on the next contract. Scoop |
WRT this vacation liquidation.
My initial understanding and reading of the PWA is that there is no limit. And some say if there are no volunteers management can force liquidation from the bottom up. My question is why wouldn't management just make this the norm? They could delay upgrades in a huge way. DALPA will look at the results of who liquidates the vacation and (it will go senior) then say it is a good deal. Just like the TA. Think of 99 hours for reserves. One of the DALPA thinkers posted here that no reserve will ever fly 99 hours and we snookered management on that one. Just stop and consider the ignorance and arrogance of that comment. This would assume that Richard Anderson and Mike Campbell negotiated for something that will never come to pass. Really???? This type of thinking and this contract language leads me to believe we are doomed. |

yep. it's pathetic how some "yes" voters fooled themselves into thinking "no way the company would do that," or "this won't affect me."

Looks like all the whiners from the old DALPA forum must have come over here now. Mods, it looks like its time to go ahead and close this thread since there is almost never any 'latest and greatest' subject matter.

Carl,
The same debate gets boring. I'm going to try to refrain from making any of the same points, again, and yield the floor. Along those lines, although an early believer in the Surface, it is starting to appear Microsoft itself is going to pull the plug on RT. We've been holding back on the iPad Air, but, that Target deal for the 16GB version at $379 (after $100 promo card) certainly would have been attractive. For EFB use, has anyone tried the 16GB version, or is the 32 or larger version the way to go? IOS7 has a 64bit memory architecture and that's going to increase the footprint of anything that gets stored. Anyone know if this is an issue now for a Contentlocker/ Personal EFB / Reader iPad? With my Android EFB 16GB barely does the trick. The size of US Charts and Plates is probably 4 GB. That takes a lot of room. |
