Are we upgrading guys to 320 A?

Only if they're staffed by 75 FOs (no backfill, thank you).
It's like they are playing chess with us -- trying to figure out where we are going to bid. But, they are losing. |

I think I just answered my own question. This is a test case by the company. See how many guys bite... sell back vacation at regular rates (minus per diem), avoid any greenslip pay, and adjust staffing accordingly as it's rolled out across all categories. How this job has declined...
The crucible should result in a guy walking thru and our company hiring to the requirement. Any problem with that guys? |

I remember the MD88 captains they displaced earlier this year, too. If you bid off, no backfill. I think they really wanted them to go to the 717.

Oh, OK. I'm glad someone has finally explained it to me.

Yep! and I swapped into a trip that puts me at 32/7 on new years day by accident. It let me. I guess all the violations are turned off.
I'm not really sure how I'm going to play this one. Oh, and any CA that sells back their vaca in JAN is TOTD. |

How deep into the category is that earning going?
Blanket G/S in and out of base all month every month. There were also several G/S I missed out on by just being out of position--IOW I didn't sit at home by the phone all day every day. Live 1:20 away from ATL. 220 total hours on the 320 in 6 months. Of course, there was one stretch where I worked 7 calendar reserve days in a row in Nov. The trips overall on the 320 are less than desirable--at least in ATL. Many 30 hour layovers. Probably more 30 hour layovers to come with the new rest rules. I am in favor of exploring the time and a half provision over the ALV. I think it would be even smarter and safer to explore x day payback for all pilots. That has kept me sane--although when stating is so short it is hard to get the x days as they are subject to mutual concurrence (automated function often denied for capped reserve days). If we could make those payback days similar to APDs, I would likely bid reserve all the time, even if senior. The guys who make 300K worked hard for it, and are probably really tired. Just some info from 1 perspective |

Why would any 320A sell back his vacation now? If the company is that short they can keep their vacation and make a week's worth of vacation pay on a two day greenslip.
Better yet all put in only GS with conflict. I would assume a lot of these guys have vacation plans since a lot of kids are on break, ski trips etc. Scoop |
It seems to me this is a perfect opportunity for an ALPA or DPA letter explaining the pitfalls of vacation sellback, the differences in IA, GS and GS with conflict. Not to discourage one from the other but to inform and let the pilots make their own decision.
