Which is an odd fact given that any MD product operated over 4 miles per hour is fundamentally out of the control of the operator.

Perhaps the 737 fleet just needs high flotation gear and a MDM change.

The poor captain has to be feeling pretty bad.
How old was that airplane? A week? Maybe two weeks?
That's like getting in a wreck with your new car as you leave the dealer's lot.

Reminds me of an incident from back when all this single engine taxi nonsense started. I was a 767 F/O in BOS, it was winter, the ramp was covered with fresh snow/ice. We pushed back, turning about 90 degrees away from the gate, so the jetway is now out my right window. I'm starting the left engine, it's running and the Capt. is getting the wave off from the tug crew.

I say, "You want the right engine too?" as I'm reaching up for the start selector.

He said, "Naw...we'll be fine on one." as he pushed up the power on the left engine.

Well the airplane spun hard to the right, and now we are looking right at the tug crew who's eyes are wide open, mouths too...like this:

I look at the Capt. and calmly I say,

"OK.... do you want me to start the right one now?"

How does that work since we bought a refinery?

Wow. 19 trips in open time starting tomorrow on ATL88B. 0 Reserves. I really think there's a good chance flights are going to get cancelled due to no crews on the 88. They are splitting trips and doing everything in their power to try and get guys to bite over Christmas. I think not hiring earlier finally bit them. This is at 3 pm the day prior. I can't possibly see how everything gets covered.

This must have happened at night. I operate in/out of JNB quite often, the taxiways are poorly lit and not marked all that well, like we are used to in the States and Europe. It's much worse when it's dark and raining but I think it was clear that night.

I don't ever recall seeing that building down there but I was never on the wrong taxiway (yet), or gone past the turnoff for 3L. I'm going there a few days after Christmas, I'll have to ask for taxiway Mike so I can get a real good look at the newly configured building!
Should be plenty of wingtip clearance now, right?

This is what I always think is about to happen with that fence on the southeast ramp in DTW.
Was there an RJ painted on the side of the building, that would explain it.

Out of base greenslips are happening now. We should eliminate out of base slips. I don't agree with that. Green slip with conflict is getting closer and closer to those who don't mind working Christmas.
