Question for one of the high earners in the group. What happens to the 415 retirement account if you hit the 51000 max? I am wondering if the company contributions stop. Seems like if you were going to max it out might be better to stop putting 401K money into it so you could take advantage of as much company money as possible? I am still below the threshold this year, but I don't want to leave any of their money on the table in the coming years with the funds going to 15% Jan 1st. :cool:

It does not apply in every month. The 7th shortcall applies when the reserve guarantee is 75 hrs or above.

Not that I'm one of those guys but you wont leave any money on the table, it just gets taxed and goes into your regular pay for the month/s you have reached the 415 limit.

Don't forget that a pilot will be required to have 10 hours of acknowledged rest prior to starting short call as well. The PWA says that you do not have to acknowledge a short call conversion until one hour prior to starting the short call period. Sooooo, if you follow the PWA and aknowledge one hour prior, you would not be able to start a trip until 9 hours after starting the SC period! But that's not really true either because: you can't even start the SC period until you have the required acknowledged rest, and again, you don't have to acknowledge an assignment to SC until an hour prior, which then makes you illegal to start the period as assigned, which means scheduling would have to change your SC start time, and you would not have to acknowledge said change until one hour to starting your new SC period, which puts you into a logic loop that could keep you from ever actually being on SC. :eek:

Speaking of Jan SC, why hasn't the Jan SC start time list been published on DL Net yet?

Check your email. DALPA put out another memo on this. Pretty lame the position the company is taking before a resolution is met.

"The company’s recent All Pilots Bulletin on this subject sets out a method for acknowledging a reserve assignment that allows a pilot to both acknowledge the assignment and to comply with the new rest requirements of the FAR. Pilots may choose to acknowledge in this manner (i.e., more than 10 hours before the reserve assignment) consistent with the current PWA language. Additionally, as stated in their bulletin, the company has committed to do everything possible to assign flying at least 16 hours prior to report.

Pilots acknowledging in more than three but less than 10 hours are also, in our view, in compliance with current PWA Section 23 S. 6. b.1). The company, however, has a different view and has stated that in this circumstance, they may remove the pilot from the trip, not pay the pilot for the reserve day (place a PD on the pilot’s schedule) and require him/her to discuss the situation with their chief pilot."

Why do I have a feeling the company will end up winning yet again? That said, they do need the money...why make $3,000,000,000 when you can make say $5,000,000,000 and so on. Keep the pilot staffing suffucatingly lean and someone gets a bonus...just not the pilots. Btw, has anybody recently had trouble dropping a trip because of chronically below min staffing numbers put out by the company? How is that working for QOL?

DALPA put out MEC Alert 13-21 Reserve Assignment today. Good on them. It spells things out for the reserve pilot without a lot of bluster. It would be beneficial to our group if all were aware of how much leverage this gives us, but I think the Alert is professional and gets the point across.

So if Jan 1 is your first day on RSV, do you still have to check by 1500 local base time on the 31st?
