Just sayin.

... when did we start calling the "union suit" thermal underwear? It was even copyrighted as the Kenosha Klosed Krotch which shows Kim, Kourtney and Kloe Kardashian weren't the first to think of putting the letter "K" on the front of everything with a larger than normal back panel.
LOL. Love it!

ORD is turning into ATL but they forgot that 5 E-W parallels don't do so well when from Dec to Feb you have a consistent N-NW wind and snow!

That's right! They turned the airport around to make all the whiney suburbanites happy! Bet the wish they had the 31's back!!! Big dummies.

Please tell me its not going to snow in the ATL tonight! I want to get home from Dubai in time to watch the AU/FSU game, I hope they don't cancel the first bank of outbound flights.

As a guy who has been raised inside the "Delta Culture," I find the current version to be a culture of convenience. It is best a facade used to encourage loyalty which is not reciprocated. Frankly, you can not have the "Delta Culture" while outsourcing more than 50% of your operation to AirServ, Regional Elite and all varieties of express contractors.

Still, I appreciate both Disney World and the version of Delta which Mr. Richard Anderson exposes. To the degree it works to put a smile on our employees faces it makes Delta a better place for us to work and a world's better experience for our customers.

CE Woolman would have never set up an outsourcing scheme which traded jobs at his Company for concessions. But, Richard Anderson's version is more than a million times better than Leo Mullins and Michelle Burns who ran through this place like Sherman.

All in all, Delta is the best airline in the business right now ... and this place is managed to make money (which means job security if we keep our scope up). Richard Anderson and his team probably are defining a new culture here at Delta ... a culture that we have every right to be proud of.

(as far as Culture goes, I've learned to judge Crew Schedulers by accent. If they talk like I do, I'm probably going to be OK. If they talk like Francis McDormand in Fargo, I'm screwed)

He's still breathing! It's Legal! Put him on the 05:30 from Fargo, 9 hours rest then BOG from New York..."

I was asked if I would do exactly that, load bags, at my Delta interview. If the circumstances permitted, I said, 'yes'. I have done it and I would do it. No big deal. I used to be a ramper, and I loaded bags as a pilot on a 135 op.

But when memos come down on us like dictum from Zeus, and it says you WILL do this or that... all while Zeus seems to be ignoring the problem at hand (ramp ops reliability) and at the same time hammers me when I'm out sick, well...

There is a great culture at Delta. That's why when memos from on-high that threaten to derail the cooperative spirit by making mandatory what was simply part of a job-well-done, I have to wonder if the gods have lost their marbles. We are becoming the AMR corporation more every day. I still have very high regard for RA. As long as he's here, we are good. But we need stronger union leadership to counterbalance his 'pilot-handlers'. I hoping MD will step up. So far I think he's doing that. A long, long way to go though.
IMHO many North Managers are making their way to the Corporate Offices and so are their ways! Some better some worse! The good ideas are often overshadowed by the penny pinching bad ideas!

With everything we have riding on NYC, we can't afford such a weak link in the operation.
The forecasts for this storm were not accurate. The storm was upgraded almost hourly in the 48 hours prior to the peak snow. Originally it was not expected to have a major impact on the NYC area. BOS was supposed to get most of it. This forum and I personally have been critical of management shutting down too quickly in the NY area in the past. Their recovery plan apparently was also hindered by the diversion of a aircraft flying In With additional ground personal to assist when JFK shutdown unexpectedly. As bad as we performed everyone else was just as bad and JetBlue was a disaster.

Trust me , lived it for the last few days. Very surreal to walk through a packed terminal and look out and see the ramp virtually deserted with aircraft at every gate. Some carriers had 5 hour holdouts. The 3 hour rule is what drove many of our cancelations to avoid the fines. We did have one flight wait almost 4 hours for a gate however it was international so allowed 4 hours.
FAR 117 did not help the situation. She rolled in with near perfect timing. It's rumored that one or two airlines simply ignored 117. As far as I could tell we flew 117 to the letter of the law and it helped kill us in JFK that night. Crews finally loaded and ready to push timed out as the tugs were hooked up.
It's not over yet with bad weather in several major hubs.

Yeah, you've probably seen my post about JetBlue leaving passengers stranded for a week and even then stating they'll be treated as revenue standbys. Seems they could get them to MCO or something.

That's the kind of thing which could result in the government deciding "there needs to be a law ..."

I hope not.

No, he should not.
But I overheard an FO tell his captain in LGA the other day, "hey man, I'm really tired. I'm not going to be able to extend."
The captain said, "OK, I'll tell the dispatcher you won't extend. But I'm going to extend."
For every captain that "gets it," there are several weenies who don't.
