I doubt that there are ANY displacements from the 7ER in December, and if there are any, they will be modest.

By December they will need to basically not backfill the amount that they just posted. So basically 50 FO's. They must be fat on captains to not add any for the peak summer flying. With 330 vacancies coming you are probably right that there will be minimal displacements this fall.

Nu

Now that is funny and pretty accurate for 2001 hires still in bottom 15% of after 13 years.

You are correct, I just assumed that they were gently preparing the pilot group for a reduction in the catagory by saying they flying hours would be reduced by 25%. They very well may carry a 25% surplus in the category going forward. (will be excellent for reserve bidders) And they did say they hoped the F/O's would bid to other category's to avoid displacements.

I apologize for running wild. I just immediately speculated that if was the first volley to start managing expectations.

Seasonal adjustment?

the real person responsible for the A330 at NW was Mickey Foret who was the numbers guy for years there.
Who is another grad of the Frank Lorenzo School of Mgt. I'm having another PTSD flashback of EAL. Was Phil Bakes, Tom Matthews or Don Breeding at NW, too?

Interesting about the A350. Under the heading of "you never know if someone knows what they're talking about when they tell you something", but I was told that the Feds were going to see if it was possible for an A330 guy to fly the A350 with just differences training. I asked an A330 check airman if we could be one fleet if we got the A350, and he said no way.

Calling the Iceman........Iceman come in.

Didn't know he was a Lorenzo boy....must have been way back.

But for sure.......Foret was Gary Wilson's money man and he is a very very good money man. But I've always wondered if he's still Wilson's boy on Delta's board.....cuz you know Wilson is still around somewhere.

AE
With regards to the AE I think crew planning is just playing offense. THey want guys to volunteer to bid off than get displaced because lets be honest we will have ZERO training capacity to deal with displacements. I am sure we will just stay fat. If you displace one ER CA that could lead to 8 training events and 4 possibly for an FO. if we want to hire north of 600 how can we afford to train for displacements. Not going to happen

I agree, not likely we'll displace ER CA positions.

I do disagree with the waterfall effect. 1 displaced ER Capt goes to 73 (growing category), problem solved. Won't be any bumping from there. Just don't see 8 training events being generated.
