The category varies a lot for sure, but the company is really talking like it'll plunge forever and ever after this summer. 757 retirement numbers imply that it certainlly could.

Heh. I flew with a well known guy who gave the FAs a 20 minute brief. Every time. From DTW-ATL.

After the second leg like this, I warned the FAs to grab a seat during the brief as it would be long... while I chose that time for preflight.

For example, I got a lecture on how when we call out runway/dep/first fix that calling the runway "27L inside and outside" is not in the book and not valid. "Verified" is the only appropriate callout since that's what is in the book.

"But... it's in lower case letters... that's an action, not a callout. You're trying to make this into SOPA/SMAC. It's not. How you verify it is up to you, as long as you are verifying that you're in the right place and the runway is in the box."

"ITS NOT IN THE BOOK. YOU SAY VERIFIED."

It was like that for literally everything. As I'm sitting over there like:

Sadly they're not all in the left seat:(

Just flew with an anal retentive Marine. Like your guy, he was just plain wrong about quite a few of the minutia he tried to enforce. He's gonna be on a lotta no-fly lists when he upgrades.

I had a guy like that who when I attempted to express an opinion that differed from his version related to a Vol 1 procedure (and the latest bulletin) took his left hand and put it over his right epaulet, and then revealed it saying, "Let's see who is right. It's me." He won TOTY.

At least he didn't put his other hand on your epaulets...

So how many will take the ER fo just to take the possible displacement to get where they have been trying to go for the last 10 years...place your bets.

Damn, you guys are flying with some ass
wipes. I'll stay in LA, we have one or two but most are harmless decent dudes. I flew with a guy recently who told me that he'd only do one walk around a rotation. I said, "damn, that's unfortunate, I only do one per rotation also." Thankfully, he laughed....and did his fair share.

This guy wasn't quite to the level of playing the captain card. That would have gotten him listed on the TOTD thread!

In fact at one point I said "look, you've got one more stripe than me, so whatever... I'll do it if you're going to make a deal out of it. That being said, you need know that what you're saying is not standard and that's why people aren't doing what you expect them to do."

Didn't help, though.

I flew with a guy one time who was adamant that his way was the right way. When I pointed out where his "procedures" differed from the company's, he informed me that the company and Boeing were wrong and his way was the right way. All because he had an Aeronautical Engineering degree from the AF academy. It finally came down to, "Look. It says Delta on the side of the plane, and Delta on my paycheck. I'm doing it Delta's way. If it was your airplane and you were paying me, I'd do it your way."
