Release the hounds.

Of course we've all used the "aisle donkey" reference.

When asking the FO to talk to the pax I'd ask him/her to "Stroke the Toads". This came from the fact that all the passengers faces were green and you could just see their heads above the seat and their hands holding the seat in front. A metro liner reference.

Now I'm much more mature and ... Wait, no I'm not.

Well, we DO know that starting 17 Jun there's gonna be a 717 doing

AUS 0730> 0825 LAX 0945> 1440 AUS 1630> 1745 LAX 1815 > 23:30 AUS

for leg times of about 3 hours. So you can do 2, but not 3. I'd guess one crew does AUS>LAX>AUS and lays over; x 2. Maybe the first guys of day get tagged with another 1 hr leg after that.

In any case, I see some AUS layovers on the 717, and AUS is a GREAT place! Music, college town, hill country, BBQ, 7 brew-pubs downtown, Barton Springs, Austin Lake, Texas. Sign me up!

edit... I looked alllll over at the Delta route map thing, and I can't find ANY 717 flights into or out of AUS and LAX starting on 17 Jun, except between the city pair. I was looking for a DTW>AUS or ATL > AUS leg to get the jet out there and back... can't find it. So.... that makes me ask, if we're doing AUS>LAX all day on a 717, and the jet is NOT ever making contact with DTW or ATL... does that mean LAX will be a hub for it? (or AUS!!)

Who has a better tool to look at route segments by aircraft type? The Delta Air Lines Map shows all route and flights on our current sched, along with what the equipment flying it is, so it's accurate, just have to do a lot of clicking.

That is close. Here are the exact numbers as of about 3 weeks ago.

Here is the latest retirement schedule. Subject to change of course.
2014- 14 757
2015- 15 757
2016- 13 757
2017- 22 757 4-767

Over the next 4 years we lose 64 757 and 4 767 airframes. In addition we retired 16 757 airframes in 2013. No other aircraft types were listed for retirement. We should gain around 205 airframes over that period. Net gain 135 plus airframes.

There is a chance 10 of those airframes could stay depending on a charter contract.

Yep,

They want a LAX 117 base but only if >95% of the bid package will be red-eyes. Once they work through the logistics of that we will be good to go.

PCS question. I am trying to do a blind swap with the pot. What do I put in for the trip number if I am willing to pick up any 3 day trip?

And all but 10 are smaller than the airplanes they are replacing.

While I am all for a net gain of aircraft, it sure would be nicer if they paid anywhere near the same as the primary aircraft it is replacing. The 757/767.

And in 3, 2, 1, T will be here with his LBP.
