Over the last few months it's been looking like the time would be ripe to do it on the 20th of the month prior or shortly there after and then see if a GS becomes available....

yes, that would be how to do it but the reality of this situation is theyre unstacking res no matter the seniority on reserve which disrupts the x days off in mass at the beginning of the month.

the third res pilot/second res pilot with a full res schedule is unstacked.

You completely misunderstand unstacking (now called trip coverage). Unstacking is not dependent on reserve vice regular--it is only dependent on total days off in the category (regular and reserve) considered on a day-by-day basis, and each individual pilot's seniority. If you are junior enough to get unstacked/trip coverage'd, then it would happen regardless of whether you were awarded a regular or reserve line.

If the top three guys in a severely undermanned category purposely bid reserve and wanted the first four days of July off, guess what? They are getting the first four days off (then free to put in GS, rolling thunder, etc).

Unstacking (or not) is purely seniority-in-category dependent, NOT reserve line versus regular line dependent.

If you can prove me wrong, show me a PBS Wide Report that shows guys getting reserve lines and getting unstacked into forced on-call days WHILE guys junior to them on regular lines are getting those same days off. If you can I will admit I am wrong. It should be fairly easy to document (if it exists) due to the new color-coding of PBS awards.

I am going to at least partially prove *myself* wrong. I did find some instances of guys getting trip coverage'd into weekends on call, while some guys junior to them on regular lines got at least one of those same days off. In nearly every instance these guys had vacation, CQ, etc. which probably had a lot to do with it.

Unstacking/trip coverage is a very complex entity, and not subject to glib generalities (like I myself proposed).

However I still contend that any senior guy purposely bidding a reserve line will get the days off he wants. In fact I believe that the company cannot unstack into the top half of any category--though I may be mistaken.

What is w/ the 72 Contract Pick Up Rule? What's the idea behind it? I wanted to swap for a trip showing the next day (30+hours.) They gave it as a Green. But if I had the days off I could have just picked it up. WTH?

Baja.

I do not think you are correct. You can go look at April ATL717B awards. There are guys who got unstacked reserve days on weekends while junior guys held lines with weekends off and did not get unstacked trips. It is different unstacking in reserve vs regular line.

Its a pretty obvious list of both foreign and domestic carriers. Do I really have to spell it out?

All the #1 seeds had the easier path. Only one remains, but, UK is looking pretty strong against UM right now. They still have two games to play.

No, of course not. The Middle East three are certainly a threat to your widebody flying. Domestically, I don't see anyone threatening the hegemony of DL, UA, AA and WN. How much bigger do you guys really think you can get?

Days off on reserve have nothing to do with line awards. When reserve line are built, any given day off has to be available in at least 15% (I think that is the number) of the lines. So, there will always at least a few reserves who will get a weekend day off that may have been an un stacking event for a line holder.
