I don't know about the reserve coverage in your category, but this is a technique. Bid the vacation slide -5...you understand that.
Then of course ask for days off where you want them around your vacation. After the bids come out, if you didn't get the X days where you want them, go to PBS then leave request. Then move reserve off days. As a last resort use a personal drop or authorized personal drop. I think else start next bid group only jumps you from a regular to a reserve line. It skips right over reduced lower limit...which actually could also be a good option for you next month. Else start next will jump to the next bid group regardless of whatever it is. Alan Shore mentioned that if the original poster were senior enough to hold the days off he wanted to slide into without being un-stacked his slide would go through. This is correct, but since his last slide did not go through the Else start next option is a way to cover all contingencies. Each separate bid group will request a certain slide and the rest of that bid group can be tailored to that exact slide. So no matter slide he is awarded, his full requested slide of -5, something from -4 to -1, or no slide at all, the rest of his bid will be optimized for that slide. As always if not 100% sure run your proposed bid through the experts at bid assist. Scoop :) |
I heard that the A321 cant do transcons without a 150 kt tailwind and blocking off 70 seats and even then no alternate.

A little help determining the value of a Green slip on reserve. I'm thinking of submitting a GS to fly a trip that reports before 12:00 on my first on call day. So this would be a GS on an on call day without X day payback (right?). I will NOT exceed the ALV or GS trigger, I'm a fly less and live my life kind of guy.
Below is the section I can't interpret what "applied against his reserve guarantee" means. It sounds like they give you straight pay for the hours flown, but deduct it "against" (from) your guarantee (+1 -1 = 0). This becomes no different than a yellow slip if you don't exceed the ALV. what's the value in that? How can that be called "premium pay" when it's really just pay, plus a deduction from my guarantee? Section 23 U 1. b. A reserve pilot who has flown a GS rotation(s) will receive: 27 1) single pay and credit for the portion of such rotation(s) flown on his reserve on- 28 call days that occurred before the pilot's accumulated credit exceeded the ALV 29 (applied against his reserve guarantee), 30 and 31 2) single pay, no credit (in addition to any other form of pay and credit for the bid 32 period) for the portion of such rotation(s) that: 33 a) interrupted his X-day(s), or 34 b) occurred after his accumulated credit equaled the ALV, |

A long call reserve pilot who is awarded a GS rotation with a report that is within 12 hours of the first attempted contact will receive single pay, no credit for the first duty period of the rotation (in addition to any other pay and credit for the bid period). This includes reporting before 1200 on your first on-call day. You'll receive pay, no credit (above your guarantee) for the first duty period of the rotation and pay and credit (offset against your guarantee) for the remainder (assuming it's all on on-call days). |

You needed to read just a bit further, to 23 U. 1. c.:

Now if it's report in < 12 hours it's a GS above guarantee on the first day but not the rest of the days and no payback? I am shooting from the hip here but isn't that correct? |
