It does not. I ended up on RES up to the day I started class, no 48 hours off. Turns out I was told you still have to bid those days off and if you don't get them off then that provision kicks in I guess manually? I didn't follow up, didn't care.
This is how the language reads (11 F. 2. c.):

A pilot will be afforded the option of designating two days free of duty immediately
prior to the commencement of his qualification training or the travel to such training, provided he requests such days no later than 1800E on the 4th day of the month priorto the bid period that contains the earliest of such designated days. Such designateddays will not be paid and credited as training days or have a value for lineconstruction purposes. For a reserve pilot, such designated days will constitute twoof the X-days allotted to his line under Section 12 N. 2.

Given that it requires a pilot to designate these days prior to the opening of PBS bidding for the month in question, I don't see how you can also them be made to bid for those days off in PBS, either on a regular or a reserve line.

Why thank you, but must you have used such a God-awful picture of me? I so much prefer the one of Denny and me as flamingoes.

SF, You're a good guy... we've chatted a couple of times in NY... but your view from the triple digits is quite different than many on the list.

Frankly, it is what it is... but don't expect me to be enthused about the potential of being displaced to a 737 to finish out my 35yr career at the big D.

Question about move up vacations:

I miss bid and have 2 weeks in the well respected FEB bid month. I wanted to split off the back end and put the third week somewhere else during the year. I put in a bid (correctly I thought) which basically covered every other week during the year at some point.

I think they ran the move ups for MAY and did not get anything. Does crew resources only AWARD move up vacations for the current month only(MAY) or do they run it for the entire year every month (meaning, if it's run in May, if a week is all of the sudden avail in OCT, I would be awarded OCT during May's move up award)

Thanks

When they run the move ups, they do the whole year I believe. The problem these days is that since people get to keep their vacation when they switch categories with an AE or VD, there isn't as much churn with the vacation. Somewhere on DeltaNet (My guess is crew resrouces section) there is a list of available weeks I think.

What do you call it when you have three APC'ers on the same flight? Is it a flock of APC'ers, or a pride?

Gaggle works. So does: an ASAP report...

Good point. I'll start writing the outline now.
