I don't think 717A will go much higher.. its already considerably senior to the 320.

IMHO you're going to be surprised. Maybe not this AE but ones soon to follow.

Fair enough, that'll just make the other positions more junior. :)

Pay their hotels and give them positive space and they would be beating down the doors. Lot's of highly experienced former whale instructors choosing to fly the line because of those 2 items..

So they get a higher guarantee to be in the schoolhouse, now they should get more benefits "just because"?

You wanna instruct: the working conditions are what they are, apply or don't. I don't care, they'll find, train, and qualify people willing to do the job. Special treatment for one small fleet of instructors is a non-starter.

I have to commute on standby and pay for my own crashpad because I CHOOSE to live where I want and work where I have bid my position. They're no different in that regard, IMHO.

I tend to agree with you here.

There will definitely be movement in the good direction.

Looks like the mother of all bids is finally here. :D

Furthermore, we're not talking rocket science. Every Delta pilot comes very high qualified to this job. I think at least 50% (or likely more) of us could be great instructors if we wanted to be. And frankly, in my opinion, we don't even need "great" instructors, so I am totally opposed to spending extra money when there are plenty of "great" instructors that will do the job without it.

How do you figure? I would be in the bottom 15% on the ATL 320A, but nearly at the 50% level in the 717A category.

Have you seen the AE/MD debacle on the west coast?

I'll just say we feel your pain, a little:D

Partly bad memory on my part, however the junior 320A awarded most recently has gone down into the 8000s while the junior 717A was about 7000.
