Exactly. They want it for some reason, and it is not just to "get something" in return for letting us do illegals. I'll give you a scenario... newhire cruise pilots. Before ya'll die laughing, we are buying off on concessionary items in what should be an advancing timeframe... and the company and everybody else with a pulse knows we are facing a pilot shortage. Of course nothing substantial will be done by anybody until it is elevated to crisis level. So... hire a kid with all the written tickets, and let him sit in the jumpseat on transcons until he gets his 1500 hours. The rest quality would be improved for the "flying" pilots because it would be the cruise pilot that would have to stay up all night both directions. And as an added bonus, you don't even have to train him to land the airplane.... just operate the interphone and do position reports.

Seconded. Thanks for the synopsis. :)

That's correct. That's where the reduction in 7ER staffing is coming from, not a reduction in innanashunal.

Good point. I guess I'm thinking about the international aspect. Seems as if the ER guys are saying there is less international. Is that true? Tsquare?

I dunno. The closest I get to international is the Club Quarters by Chinatown.

Is this true the stand ups will be pay no credit? If so then what is to stop the company from making lots of stand ups and forcing guys too white slip to get over the trigger.
This is in excusable and a failure of epic proportions for an outmanned nc. What a sorry sorry situation. I am embarrassed for our nc

I think that's why Sailing is a no voter on that issue.

What does a CDO pay as a greenslip?

Unless there is another FAR change I don't think we could have cruise pilots sitting around getting time for their ATP.

I don't think anyone is saying they are good. I suspect it's a part of the 5:15 change. Pilots hated 4 day trips paying 18:30 with 30 hour layovers. That trip now pays 21 hours. The cost of 5:15 was as posted a big number. It reduces reserve utilization, increases credit system wide and requires more pilots. Those little two days reserves often got with a DH on one day now pay 10:30 instead of 7 hours as a example.
There is as mentioned a contingent of pilots who like CDO's. I certainly don't but watch what happens. They won't be the bottom trips bid. Overall the negotiating team tried to fix the most complained about items. CDO's were simply part of the package. Hopefully it will go to memory ratification and you can decide yes or no. If not let your rep know how you feel.

A4A could petition the FAA to allow it. As long as there is a "qualified" pilot at the controls with him... And they promise that the cruise pilot will not be at a control seat below 350.

I'm just spitballing, but when they are able to raise the pilot shortage to a crisis, you can bet there will be some creative solutions proposed.
