They don't even need to do that for the MED... look at how senior LOS goes on the ATL 7ER. Its the only 4 man trip and they gobble it up.

Chairman's letter is out...

Improves Average Daily Guarantee (ADG) to 5:15 with a carve-out from 0000-0200, eliminates Duty Period Average (DPA), eliminates 2200-2359 carve-out.

· Eliminates longevity disparity for former NWA pilots.

· Adds new reroute restriction requiring open legs outside of 14 hours to report be covered under normal trip coverage. (my add: the current trigger is 18 hours)

· Increases long call leash to 13 hours for rotations and short call.

· Improves earliest trip report/short call to 10 hours after start of first on-call day.

· Limits short call periods for all reserve pilots to a maximum of 12 hours.

· Establishes split duty periods with scheduling protections above and beyond the FAR and a 7:30 pay guarantee.

· Retains 8 and 12-hour flight time limits for ocean crossings.

· Improves FRMS long range flying duty day protections.

· Improves FRMT language allowing participation in the FRMS development and application process.

· Improves the A330-300 rest seat by providing a rest facility in the MCRC.

· Provides augmentation for a non-ocean crossing FDP.

· Adopts FAR FDP limits for actual operations.

· Improves FAR FDP scheduling limits through a 30-minute buffer.

· Improves FAR PIC FDP extension authorization by providing that ALL pilots must provide authorization.

· Improves NRT/HND deadhead seat requirements.

"Provides augmentation for a non-ocean crossing FDP."

Augmented Transcons anyone?

Why the carve out 0000-0200 for 5:15 Average day?

badflaps 05-17-2014 01:48 PM

First winter IROP in ATL, I'll bet you'd have CDO's timed out all over the system.

They left out that it has to be in an appropriate rest seat. I asked directly about that. It has to be in a 757ER or 767ER with appropriate seat (or better). You can't do augments on a 320 or 737 or similar...

I agree on the ADG carveout, but it's a 2 hour improvement on the current ADG carveout.

What is the LC response leash??? 3 hours?
Unsat

Alan Shore 05-17-2014 01:50 PM

Disregard.

RockyBoy 05-17-2014 01:51 PM

So the LC leash is 13 hours. That still doesn't work unless we now will have to contractually acknowledge 3 hours after trip is on our line. And looks like we can get a rotation at 10AM on the first day.

Not saying it's right or wrong. Just saying it's been around forever, NOT just since BK.

Unfortunately the horse trading taking place now is cutting into the last remaining nuggets in our work rules of any worth. Compare the contract of a couple decades ago against what we are left with now....there is no comparison.

If there is going to be horse trading let's not trade a few dollars for something that ultimately reduces safety. Can we agree on that? Also, these work rule changes that get sold as huge wins with erroneous information (ie we just need the up to 99 hours for reserves to cover a specific situation for international reserve) causes further erosion of credibility of the union and later, reduced QOL of the line pilot.

* except for stand-ups. Because 10 hours of rest should be an absolute minimum, unless it shouldn't be, because some guys want to be "productive."
