I just read the June pushback procedure. Does anyone else feel like they are trying to reinvent the wheel? I also feel like we are really trying to reduce crew costs. That is the only thing that gate latency costs us. I personally don't feel I can do the start sequence and enter the performance numbers any faster than I am currently doing it without compromising safety. My biggest gripe about our current pushback sequence is when the WDR does not come on time. This new procedure seems like overkill and I don't think it will help fix my biggest gripe. What do I know? I've only been here over 6 years. I'm still a bottom feeder.

This is true. That being said the reason that NWA wasn't taking flow through agreement pilots in 07/08 is because none of the CP pilots met the requirement of being at CPZ for 36 months before flowing. Otherwise NWA would have taken them.
There were several "flow down" pilots on property at CPZ so the agreement has already worked both ways at least to a small extent. The CPZ interview during those years was conducted by retired NWA pilots with the exception of one CPZ HR type. The interview consisted of a computer based technical exam, simulator evaluation (B727), and HR and technical panel. The interview was designed to mirror (at least in format) the interview that NWA was using at the time. I'm not pointing fingers but I'm always amazed at the desire of DAL pilots to see the company abide by the PWA by the letter yet many posters here seem to attempt to find any loophole they can in this provision of both the CP CBA and DAL PWA. Regardless of opinion about the concept of a flow through agreement the pilots hired by CPZ prior to sale to TSH were contractually guaranteed ( and affirmed by the FTA LOA) a position in training at DAL. I'm glad to see it working. The agreement to abide by this LOA changes the entire course of my life and that of my family (wife and two young children). However, for the record no guarantee of a job at DAL exists. One must work hard and show up with a good attitude like all new hire pilots. The success of a FTA pilot once they arrive in ATL is only up to themselves. I can't wait to get to DAL. I'll be the happiest SOB you've ever seen. A dream come true by every definition. UA |

If the interviews were the same why didn't the cpz interviewees just go to NWA? Answer: because they were not the same. The cpz interviews were cast with less experienced pilots (after the first bunch). Less time behind the wheel to buck up. That's the point. During their years at cpz getting the hours that the NWA interviewees had, if they bucked up they still got to go. Not so for the guy or gal interviewing at NWA. They would never had been called.
I was in a hotel shuttle in late 07 with a pilot who was about to do his NWA interview and he had less TPIC and no jet time.... It's all about timing Just glad the flood gates are open in the right direction |
Typical.
When we aren't hiring, we complain that we aren't hiring. When we are hiring, we complain about who we are hiring. Once we get here, who cares? We all get the same manuals (soon to be tablets ;) ) to learn and as far as I can tell, military and civilian pilots can both read and comprehend equally. Personally, I don't care who is sitting next to me, or where he came from. Just that he, or she can do the job. 19 years into this, I've found that everyone can. Who started this discussion anyway? ;) |

lulz... Cleveland.... the mediocrity continues. Jerry Jones would've heard angels printing money as they made jerseys with JFF's name on it. But they keep Romo, they like being 2-3, 5-5, 7-7... Swing and a miss if you ask me. |
Can someone explain to me what the deal with Delta and Alaska is? Why are they so mad at each other?
