I disagree. As far as the Air Force goes, the Academy of Military Science only accepts the best and the brightest. I believe airlines should be doing everything they can to hire as many Academy grads as possible!
Although I didn't attend the Academy, I wish I had "known then what I know now." We're talking about the same "Academy," right??? Just lightening the tone... I like to refer to my time there as 42 days of heck with no beer until the first Friday night. |
Fwiw, the new hires and flow ups that are coming to the 717 have been exceptionally strong. They have great skills and even have read the FOM more than once. I've been impressed. DAL has been hiring top quality pilots at front of the wave.

APC sighting!! Got to ride on FTB's jumpseat last night on my commute home. Didn't need any hand signals, just a war story that I recognized.. Great meeting you and chatting.

You are thinking of the advanced Academy. The one where it took us 6 weeks to do what it took the other academy guys 4 years to do.
I like to refer to my time there as 42 days of heck with no beer until the first Friday night. I had a great time there in spite of all the bed making and underwear folding classes. Of course it was in May, warm weather, and I had a girlfriend from the UT who would show up with a cooler full of refreshments, and sneak me off base to a local lake beach park. Ahhh....good times! When I showed up for UPT at Del Rio in June, our "Class Leader" had just come out of Sky Blue U. I looked at him and said, "You mean it took you FOUR YEARS to learn what I learned in 6 weeks?? What, are you guys at the Zoo slow learners??":D |

Look at their structure also. How many Airlines does France have flying to the US. How many airlines does the US have flying to France?
'zactly. This is another reason that the sand fleas are so successful. O&D traffic.... How else could a country the size of North Dakota have 100 777s on order? |
Anxiously awaiting to see where Tre Mason goes.

[QUOTE=Wmuav8r;1639255]Ok for all our resident contract experts I have a couple of questions.
1. Do new hires get paid per diem for the observation flights and OE trips? 2. Does the positive space perk for training apply to OE trips? There seem to be a lot of answers out there to these questions both ways. For bonus points where exactly can I find this in the contract? Thanks all![/QUOTE Ask the"mentor" assigned to you. |
