Don't y'all get your knickers in an uproar over the C series at Skywest. The ExpressJet CPA is going to be cancelled ala Freedom Air sooner that anyone realizes and the big RJs transferred to 9E. With ExpressJet gone and all the Skywest 50's gone it's going to be a dramatically different DCI picture within a year.
Does anyone know if DL dumps them if SKYW, inc would still own the gates? They extorted DAL big time in exchange for essentially loaning us 400M of the billions of our own money we gave them in the years prior, only to be guaranteed to be paid back way more than that. With whatever is happening in 2015, can we really dump them without consequence, or do they still have a claim to (a lot of) ATL gates? |

Yeah there is no freaking way a flow will be opened up between 9E and DL. So they are going to give a flow to people who had a 70% bust rate on the interview?? Notta chance!

So a DCI guy flies pax from somewhere to ATL for Delta to fly on, does that mean a C-17 pilot who flies troops from Afghanistan to Qatar where Delta picks them up to fly home is also a DCI pilot?
The time to fix this by annointing groups with ALPA holy water are over. That ship has sailed. This is a mainline problem with a mainline solution. It can only be fixed with bringing flying in house and staffing it with new hires at the bottom of the list with DL DOH for longevity. That's just how it is. |

If the interviews were the same why didn't the cpz interviewees just go to NWA? Answer: because they were not the same. The cpz interviews were cast with less experienced pilots (after the first bunch). Less time behind the wheel to buck up. That's the point. During their years at cpz getting the hours that the NWA interviewees had, if they bucked up they still got to go. Not so for the guy or gal interviewing at NWA. They would never had been called.
And it doesn't matter one bit about their interview. They could have undergone a NASA interview 10 times harder than any other airline in history and that would be irrelevant. It means nothing that retired or even active NWA (or Delta for that matter) pilots were participating. It doesn't matter how hard it was. A flow that will *probably* lead to a seniority number is not a seniority number. And without a number, there is no claim to a job that requires a number to be on the list. |

IIRC, there is something major in 2015 I think WRT SkyWest/ASA, their CPA and ATL.

Or does that mean a DCI pilot is also a United pilot because they sometimes fly for the "United side"? If a DCI pilot flies for a, let's just say "prolific" outsource provider, can they at the same time be a Delta, United and American pilot?

And that's exactly the best and only solution. Bringing the frames and the pilots onto the property is a non starter. |

Ok for all our resident contract experts I have a couple of questions.
1. Do new hires get paid per diem for the observation flights and OE trips? 2. Does the positive space perk for training apply to OE trips? There seem to be a lot of answers out there to these questions both ways. For bonus points where exactly can I find this in the contract? Thanks all! |

I think it is wrongheaded to engage in a debate about whether military or regional pilots are the better pilots. We all passed the interview and do the work. I do think it is important to point out that I personally was both a regional and a military pilot before Delta and, consequently, better than everybody else here. ; )

Assuming they did, what would they do with them?
I'm not too worried about any of the options they have as being a threat to us as we could easily bury anything they tried to do alone or with a partner. But I am concerned about the potential loss of a significant number of gates. Then again, most of the gates in question, and a lot of our own other gates, used to be used for 50 seaters and are now using much larger planes. So maybe its possible to lose a lot of those gates and still not cramp the operation much or at all. I don't like the thought of an insolent regional owning gates we may need for our operation though, so I hope that's not the case. Things with SKYW, inc could get ugly. |
