Hey all,

Reserve guy tring to move off days around. I found the PCS template for doing so, but the format is throwing me off. The template is Delta IT wizardry at it's worst. I don't know how to do a screen shot to show you what I mean. Anyone know how to fill it out correctly?

Thanks........gnewt

Anyone done BCN on vacation recently?

I found a note on mycrewguide saying we can get the crew hotel for 76 euro/night, but that was about a year ago...Anyone done this recently? What's the mechanism to book at this rate? Their website starts at 122/night.

Any other recommendations for the area? We're going to be flying in with 2 young kids (under 6) and then training over to France to meet some friends. I need a few ideas of how to entertain everyone for a few days in BCN - I'm thinking the beach but have never been over there.

If you like architecture, Antonio Gaudi did a TON of buildings there beside Sagrada Familia. Some of it is actually pretty cool. The additions to the Sagradia Familia should have resulted in the architects being drawn, quartered, shot, hung, and then beaten to death. It really really sucks. But the original church is pretty neat and worth the visit. Some of the other stuff he did is very child centric and they might find it interesting. There is a place up higher in the hills (you can take a bus there or the train, I cannot remember which) that has a playground in his motif. I'll see if I can find the name if you are interested.

Mies Van derRohe (one of the fathers of the modern movement in architecture) did the Barcelona Pavilion which is a few blocks from the old Fira Palace. The famed "Barcelona Chair" http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l3...chairblack.jpg was designed for that exhibit which was for the 1929 International Expo in BCN. They are actually quite comfortable although they don't look it.

If architecture isn't your thing, I suggest La Rambla and any of a number of wine spots along the way. :)

Here's a nice video on the cathedral

And if you are an Alan Parsons Project fan.. they wrote a song about it in their album "Gaudi"

Clamp, I think you're thinking of the "other' old hotel. This place blows. Noisy, isolated and in a fairly rough area. Unsat.

The trick is to remember that you're moving off days not days of reserve. It seems kind of backwards to me so that's how I keep it straight.

If you only want to move one day, it must look like this 12Jun-12Jun.

Does that help or make it worse?

Also remember that PBS can build you a line with up to 99 days of continuous RES (if that was possible), but your changes to your line limit you to putting 6 in a row max. At least that is how it was pre117 as a narrowbody guy last fall. I haven't done RES since, so I might be way off.

That is when it is first processed, but you can enter your PCS requests prior to that. So, no worries if you're out flying when it first runs.

As a side note, I can curse and swear with the best of them so it's impossible to offend me. However, his show is 100% family friendly so take your teenagers if you want. True pros like him don't need to use the crutch of vulgarity to make folks laugh.

Not to change the subject but I thought you all would like to know;

all but the top 25 pilots at Delta moved up one number today. Number 26 retired this morning when we landed in ATL, from Dubai. He's a great guy, I hate to see him go, but after 36 years, he said he was ready. I got him a book on fly fishing, he doesn't golf!

I was fortunate enough to be on his last trip, he threw a heck of a party in DXB and picked up the tab for all of us (nearly $1,000) The crew showed up for the party at Club 7, and his (31yr. old) son came along for the trip. Delta gave him PS passes, both ways, which was good because he'd be stuck in DXB for a week if not.

Half way home I sent a message to Disp. to remind them to get the fire trucks out, and they thought it was going to happen, but when we rolled into ATL at 05:45, no trucks. The CP who met us said they (ATL FD) didn't have the staffing at that hour, but they are doing it for arrivals later in the day, so you may see one sometime soon, now that the exit door is wide open.

The Chief Pilot and a DALPA guy was there too (a senior 777 Capt.), in uniform, to take picts, and present the pins, letters, and big pict, at 05:45!

Great job by the whole crew. Made me proud to work here, and sad, to see one of our finest hanging up his spurs.
