The paycheck is important, but to "KEEP" the paycheck long term, as few other things need to be shored up.

But I certainly don't want to see the rule of being able to report within any of the three airports to get changed. Doing so would mean that a lot of folks would have to move.

NYC is such a mess; honestly, it is the cesspool of America. Ok, I'm going overboard and trying to be funny. But in all seriousness, the largest city in the US has the worst transportation systems: roads, trains, subways, airports ... you name it.
You should work for the tourism folks.

In one paragraph you basically countermand the other. Why would anyone especially now move to a new base. I didn't have a choice in bases and I don't think many others here did. I'm glad it works for you but lets not paint with such a broad brush.

If you're on SC, then the report to any coterminal works. However, what about LC when they call and tell you that you have a 0500 EWR report and your pad is in Kew? That's a $75 car fare you just had to eat.

I think that we could look at a low cost option, of you determining what airport was your "home" airport and then they could transport you to the others.

I did that NYC thing on reserve and it just plain sucked. Add to it that if you had a car you could only park it at one airport, so you still needed to pay for transportation. (I feel your pain)
It will not effect the senior folks on the ER that have to go to LGA to start trips. That is going to be either short lived or very ugly.

What about something like a ground DH? You get assigned to one of the terminals based in your A/C, you report to it and then you get transpo and pay to go to the other cesspit, I mean airport.

Hey, Just to build on what Clamp reported I got some more info about what RA had to say, all the same really but:

If so, they were told 3% growth per month starting in January, hadn't heard that before though.
RA has been to China 8 times since the start of summer to secure a deal with an airline there for domestic feed.
Those interest rates for our debt is 9%, UAL 18-23%.
JFK terminal 4 will be owned outright by us, buying out the three current owners. Terminal 2 redone and terminal 3 gone. I know that's the same as Clamp reported.
All mainline out of LGA.
The 29 remaining DC9s after next year might get GPS and will most likely come to ATL.
60% of SOC done.
RA stated again a desire to have 90s at their cheap price over a 3x more expensive 100 seater. Said same thing about 100 seaters, their engines and 744 plans that Clamp reported.

No no no no no NO!!!!

This could end up screwing guys who have homes in the local area and who could not make it in time to the other bases --- if they were changed to be your "home base."

I'm sorry, if you commute, then you put up with the bullcrap that it is to be a commuter. As I said earlier, it would be easy to negotiate for a crew shuttle. The FAs have it. Additionally, there are already existing options which are MUCH cheaper than the $85 cab fees. You have to ask around and get to know the system. Options are out there. If you wait until the night before your callout, you are up creek without a paddle.

How would this work in our case? Assumption, you have a 0600L takeoff out of EWR or JFK. So you report to LGA when at what time? 0230L? Sorry, NOT happening. The traffic in NYC is way too unpredictable to do this.

And again, this ends up screwing people who have homes near certain airports and have the seniority to bid to only those bases.

I'm a very junior pilot. I had other options (SLC and LAX) when I selected NYC during indoc. I went with NYC because it was less disruptive. I knew the rules before bidding there. But please, don't be trying to change things for the guys who live in base.

As I side I think three times now, there are much cheaper options than the $85 cab ride. Do your homework. But at the very least, the company could provide some type of shuttle for folks. The FAs have it.

NYC will probably always be junior, but lets say you get displaced to LAX, would your opinion change.

We need to look at every issue, and how it is good/bad for the whole group. We have to learn to be commuter friendly.

I think a bus would work, but it would not work well on SC, as you would have to be with in spitting distance of an airport, and then have the bus waiting for a maybe. I would prefer that they assign a SC airport for guys on reserve. (IE LAX is one of the three for a given day now, make it ONT, LAX or SNA) If they change you or need you at another airport in the co-domicile, you report at that airport and get shuttled to the other. At the end of the trip you get returned upon your request to the SC airport.

How is that KC10? Does that work better for you?

I have a hard time with 3% a month. That is 36% YOY. No Way we will dilute like that. Well, maybe but if we expand that much we are going to need 4000 pilots
