Oh so glorious...

One of my neighbors is the Atlanta area rep for Sierra Nevada, so he pretty much drinks Sierra with people for a living (oh, and provides the occasional Sierra keg for neighborhood functions...) Pretty much the only person in my 'hood that I'd trade jobs with....

Having my income and quality of life dependent upon the profitability of the company we work for is fraught with wild swings. I like ALPA's movement toward making our contract less vulnerable to those wild swings.

The pay rates in 2004 were nice. They were also vulnerable. That point is inarguable given the events that actually occurred. I think that vulnerability stems in part from our relative position when compared to the other airlines. That's why I'm amused whenever someone claims comparison to other airlines is irrelevant. That is as logical as claiming our income should be based upon the profitability of our company only in good times, and never in bad times.

Debt from hundreds of RJs, pensions and SWA fuel hedges killed most majors. The hourly rate of 2004 was a small component in contrast.

And they are counting on our own law makers to hand it to them.

Concise and spot on.

Actually the weak sauce here is the "complacent mindset(as personified by you)..."

MEC Chair and Vice need to be elected by MEMRAT. That would keep the alter agenda types out.

Do airlines really test fly airplanes? How's that help them make any decisions on whether or not to buy it?

It is not test flying really, but as a company researches to order or not a certain type the project pilots will be invited to observe some testing, take notes and report to their companies. Occasionally they might even touch the controls and take a couple of selfies.

Better familiarity for airlines and good will and openness from manufacturers.

I've been looking at the "Projected Category" list vs. the "Forecast Staffing 22D2 Report." For December 2014, it appears that there will be a little growth in the LAX and SLC 737 categories but is that offset by the dramatic reduction of ER numbers?

LAX projected 176 B ER pilots but the forecast calls for only 145 come December. For SLC, it's 93 B ER pilots and forecast for only 76.

Does that mean ER displacements are eminent?

How much water do these reports hold? Am I simply freaking myself out for no reason?

Does the G/S trigger apply to reserves? How does it work? And if you have something like a leave that decreases your overall credit as a reserve and the trigger is about 20 hours higher, does that mean you won't get green slip pay on reserve until you fly more than the trigger?

Your numbers are off.

The trigger does not apply to reserves.
Reserve green slips are single pay no credit paid on top of the guarantee.
