Just read the Council 20 update. It still boggles my mind that after we negotiated 117, we still might have to defend ourselves to the CPO for NOT willing to EXCEED our FAR limit. This extension incorporated into the new FAR is such crap. Why make a limit and then allow it to be extended.

I have never seen the costing of the Northwest bankruptcy deal, but in the Delta deal the value of our returns ended up eclipsing the value of our concessions, including the loss of the pension plan.

This is great news!!! How did I miss this?! I figure my average deficit on pay for the past 10 years due to the pay cuts is close to $100K/year. That's $1 million dollars total. Who do I need to call to get my $1 million back? Or is it hiding in my bank account somewhere and I just missed it?

Dude.
You did not just in any way compare real football to soccer. Go to your room and think about what you just did. BTW, the largest sporting event in the world is Sunday. Can you guess what that is? |

The other thing I have is a different view on why US Air was "parked." IMO it was more because of the SLI than anything else. Isn't it true that, if there would have been a new/joint contract, that Nicolau would have been implemented? Denny |

Last night, we had to go back to the gate due to FAR 117. We were going to go over 9 hours block for day if we took off. We laid over, then deadheaded back to base this morning on our off day. My time card is showing reroute pay, but it is still open. Will that reroute pay stick?

Alfa is correct, the bankruptcy concessions have been restored, and then some. The problem is guys are considering restoration of the pre-bankruptcy concessions as well, however, those were straight charity to the company.
"The January 1 pay rate increase represents an increase of roughly $75 million in value for the Delta pilots. It also marks somewhat of a milestone in that the New Year pay rates will be above those that were in place when Delta filed for bankruptcy protection in 2005." - Lee Moak, Chairman's Letter, September 23, 2010 Problem is that a very large number of Delta pilots do not consider our "pre-bankruptcy" concession of a draconian, unprecedented 32.5% pay cut to be a permanent reset. Many of us (most?) considered the 32.5% pay cut to be an extreme measure taken in an extreme emergency in an effort to try and keep our company from going into bankruptcy. I don't think any of us at the time intended or even envisioned that this would be permanent. (Adjusted for cost of living increase, our current pay rates are a 34% pay cut.) Then along came Lee Moak, along with guys like Alfa, and voila... now we have a lot of folks accepting this drastically reduced value for our profession as a new norm. AND we've got a full decade of precedence indicating to management, Wall Street, etc. that we accept this "new norm" and have no intention of restoring our profession and our careers. Way to go, Moak, Alfa, et al. Maybe someday you will be inducted into the Bean Counter Cost Cutting Hall of Fame! ;) |
