I too am having problems with DLNet. I used to be able to browse the site for a couple minutes then get logged off. Called the Tech geeks and they told me to erase my cookies. Did that and it only worked for about 5 minutes instead of 30 seconds. Now, I can't even get to the logon page.

Using IE 8.0
Problems started about a week ago.

Apparently the FAA abhors the idea of a touchscreen EFB... or really anything flight safety critcal being touch screen. Go figure.

The ACARS is critical to safety of flight and its a touch screen. If I don't have an ACARS I'll probably not bother to get my clearance and thats not safe. So there FAA, safety of flight in a touchscreen. :D

Did you know that NASA 757 had cocaine packed in the tail when NASA bought it? I did some flying at the Langley AFB club when they first got that thing and evidently while doing maintenance on it they found cocaine packed in the vertical stab. What I was told was that there was some sort of drug operation going with Eastern maintenance where the cocaine was packed in it somewhere in Latin America and then it'd fly around until it went in for maintenance at the right place and the cocaine was pulled out.

Everyone was telling that story so I believe it was real.

Yeah i know... couldn't help but think about our ACARS. I heard it, so it must be true!

Maybe there's a stash of cocaine in each of our airplanes. Helps with the aft CG.

EFBs are installed on the E175s at CPZ, but they were an epic disaster before they were taken off line. Now we just have them sitting there with no power and dead batteries. Fine by me - they had them set up for NOS charts instead of Jepps.

I personally think EFBs are a pain in the arse. Sure, it takes the pain of revision out the window. But, at the same time, you have to zoom in and scroll to see things. That's a big pain in the arse.

I definitely like the idea of the dual ship set being put in the airplanes. I can't imagine how much money that would save not having 10-20 sets of jepps per seat.

It was said that could be expected within the next 12 months if things come together with jepp.

Isn't airways doing it??

Heard from a UAL buddy that their entire fleet just finished converting to shipsets.

Scoop

Ship sets should have been at ALL airlines years ago. The idea of pilots carrying charts that could be in the airplane is outdated.

I've head that Jeppesen charges by eyeballs, not by chartsets.

Other than the cost of distribution, that would mean no financial incentives for shipsets or EFBs...
