But hey, I will complain about those guys who actually do the job and say they aren't "fighters, in bed with management, feeding at the trough etc."

Amazing how little accountability you have when you get to hide behind a webboard, as all you assumptions, theories and ideas are certainly correct.... Why? Because those people are unwilling to actually hang it out there and make themselves accountable to 12000 pilots and their families, and are unwilling to see if their assumptions, ideas and theories can actually carry the day.

No.. I think they will just hang out here, spew the same rhetoric and know that they are always right, because there is really no way to be proven wrong in that forum. You must actually take risk and try and implement an idea to have that happen.

Well, I don't know if I would accuse people of hiding behind a keyboard unless you're signing your full name to the bottom of your posts. Do that then you can call people out for hiding.

Pure dumb luck. Either way, pick two out of three.

This isn't a perfect analogy... but let's take Bernie Madoff. People subscribed to his services. If they didn't like what he was doing, they didn't join his company and start helping out with the investments. They had the option of firing him and finding someone else to manage their money. Turns out they were idiots for retaining his services.

Then there's Warren Buffett. Or Peter Lynch. Or me.

Or Seham. (couldn't resist.)

Did Bernie put his clients at the very top of financial industry or did they lose everything? Where are Delta pilots in the transportation industry? Performance matters. In 2013 Delta pilots had their third highest earnings in history and led the US airline industry.Only 2003/04 were better. An amazing recovery from chapter 11. Performance counts!

I said it wasn't a perfect analogy. But I do think it makes a valid point.

Yep. We're the proverbial "prettiest pup in an ugly litter." See below...

You're a 767 Captain, right? Here's what your rate was in 2004: $267.52

What is it today in 2014 (10 years later)? $219.62

In order to have the same buying power as the 2004 rate, today's rate would need to be at least: $335.92 (And that's using published inflation. Arguably, it might need to be considerably higher than that.)

Yep. Performance does count!
