Great article in Aviation Week awhile back concerning the new engine maintenance program that Airbus has been able to squeeze out of the engine supplier for the A 340-600. According to them, the cost for four engines has been brought in line with those of the twin engine wide body variety. If'n so...it could be a major factor in keeping the rumor alive.

Good idea, that being done you could increase the gross weight with the savings. Which two?

None of my opinion defends the dog that is the 340. One other aspect of the 340 that I mentioned awhile ago is the delta aircraft part out/ salvage yard business. I would guess there is significant parts commonality with the 330. Some individual parts are worth what dal would be getting the airframes for. |

Two and four. You could replace them with drop tanks and fly it for 30 hours.

...and then taxi straight to a gate on ramp 6N and when questioned why he didn't park on F like he was supposed to, he'll say, "**** you" and walk off. Slowly. Slowly walk off, troll off if you will, like David Ortiz. |

Interesting that alfaromeo loves to accuse me of telling whoppers.
The fences were 20 years, not 18. I recall no such effort to extend the fences beyond 20 years. If there were, I never heard of it and will gladly apologize upon the showing of proof. There were no such lifetime protections for either pilot group...since the 20 year fences applied to both pilot groups. Again, I recall no such arbitration to extend fences beyond 20 years. But will gladly apologize upon showing of proof. The green guys started occupying the top of the whale list well before the fences came down because the fences only applied to our original whales, not post merger whales. Since our merger went straight date of hire, they rightly occupied the top of the list...before the fences came down. The fences came down in 2006 and I didn't join APC until 2008. How could you have tracked my "militancy" before I got here? Carl GTFO it already! It's time to move on! Where's Jerry with more rumors?!?!?!?! |

Or 350? Maybe a stellar lease deal on orphan 346's for the lift until said RFP replacement starts to show. Sweetening the pot similar to rumored 744 deal on supposedly parked 4 aircraft
I do really hope I am wrong on this! |
