Every once in a while, the truth slips out from a DALPA insider. If you're not an "insider", you're trying to control our contract from the "outside". One of DALPA's biggest problems is this issue of dues paying members being labeled as "outsiders".

You are a Delta pilot, and are therefore an insider as far as DALPA is concerned. Whether you choose to exercise your insider privileges/responsibilities constructively is your choice.

Offsetting a concession doesn't negate the fact they we still gave a concession. Despite what many on this board say or justify, many of us bottom 15%ers haven't seen much movement despite the retirements and growth.
How is it that we have 500-600 new captains in the last year and I've moved up in the 88B cat about 15 numbers, I just recently broke the 50% in category barrier.
I'm not anti ALPA, but it gets old hearing Sailing, Alfa etc tell us how good things are as we work more than we did post BK! I can't dispute the barrage of data that comes from the usual suspects, I just know that the message that you guys are delivering is far different than the reality that many of us are living.
The company is making huge profits (just as they predicted they would) and we got a 3% pay raise on Jan. 1. Good thing we didn't leave any money on the table?

Just to put some reality into the hours worked here are some numbers. The average Delta pilot flew in the 40 to 42 hour a month range from 200o to 2005. Post chapter 11 that jumped to 52 hours or almost 20 percent more. That number has slowly dropped as we incrementally gained improvements. In 2013 the number was 41.9 hours up slightly from 2012.

I need some serious help. I'm doing it wrong.
Sailing...how can that be....? Had Dave Bushy(sp?) on the jumpseat two weeks after he stepped down as flight ops big wig back in late '01 or '02ish. He claimed those EXACT same numbers to my captain (actually claimed 49 hour average) when he made the statement that the pilots needed to be more productive. The same number was told to me by Mike Hanson prior to our latest agreement. How is this number possible? We are flying more hours with fewer pilots... I am challenged being a product of the Louisiana edumication sistem but something just doesn't smell right...DW

I was glancing through the new F.O.M. revision and it looks like long sleeves are authorized as summer uniform! I think I am going to get one and do a preflight with a flashlight during the day to give captains a heart attack.

Not our issue - the company should be factoring that into the 747 operation - it's a cost of doing business with a long haul airplane.

I believe he was referencing Heide and her letter. As she is not a Delta pilot she IS an outsider. I also believe you know that and are, once again, crying wolf where there is none.

Why should we care whether she falls under your definition of an "outsider."
Moak's an "insider." And he just sold us down the river. He is looking out for himself, and has done worse than nothing; he's taken up the case against us. The "wolf" is in the henhouse, and you're unable or unwilling to admit it.
Those of us who aren't one of Moak's disciples and are capable of exercising common sense will take the "outsider," thank you.
