9 is a start. I have heard 65 MD-90's total but that is a long term plan. I am sure that more will be on the way going forward.

Just poking around it sounds like the AE will be open longer than the standard 10 days.

Only thing I have heard re DC9 is that the 30/40 will be phased out with heavy checks by 2012, not en masse this next year. Also heard there are spares in the desert they can swap out to extend when the heavies occur.

There are ~35 30/40's. I could easily this number being covered by MD90's over the next two years....

Thanks guys. :)

Like I said, I'd be happy just to get back to DTW A320B. Hopefully it'll happen with this upcoming MOAB's :)

I'd just love to stay right where I am. With the last few DAL-S displacements, I've lost big seniority in LA. Just wanna stay. Pleaze?;)

My guess is if you want DTW you will get DTW! :D

I may bid it too now that I am unencumbered by other commitments........

Cool Fact. Thanks for sharing. :)

Well I was displaced from DTW 320B to DTW DC9B last April so I'm hoping to get back. I think you're correct though, DTW will probably clear out. :p

Just exactly how do you propose to "protect" it? There is no way to mandate funding when the underlying corp goes bankrupt. Our DB termination had ZERO to do with who was managing it. In fact, it was beating all industry averages (S&P 500, DOW) over the last 3, 5, and 10 year periods before it terminated. It terminated due to a perfect storm of several factors all coming together simultaneously:

1) Market downturn
2) Aging pilot group
3) Massive pay raises from C2K
4) 50% lump sum option with 2500 guys bailing out causing a run on the bank
5) DAL entering bankruptcy and stopping funding

Notice - none of those would change if ALPA had been managing it.

No problem with that. Divert some of your pay raise to pay retiree medical, and or a separation bonus and you'll have more luck rather than diverting it to fund a DB.

And the PBGC and ERISA aren't nearly as much of a roadblock as Check Essential thinks.:)

I'm kind of working on my bid right now, so I have only one eye on this topic. But, if DAL had not gone into BK and continued paying into the DB, would it have been saved?

Ts. I haven't forgotten. Let me just pick from the trips I want to fly on Christmas. (I should have gone to MSP!) :)

It still sounds like the bid will be a biggie.

You're killing us. Especially the base and/or widebody huggers.

How about this, when might the bid be dropped in our laps?

Because I just want to know if I'll spend the holidays in my normal Saturday night fetal position or in glee? Or watching Glee.
