Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
12484 on the seniority list now! That's 50 higher than we were at the seniority list integration in 2008.

*i know past does not equal future, just looking for some opinions.
I don't have the exact numbers to back this up, but I believe around 2000 from the bottom would be safe. This is based on the largest furlough after 9/11 (United) as a percentage of the pilot group, applied to the current size of the DL seniority list.

We furloughed just over 1300, or around 13%. Hope no one on the list ever has to go through that hell again!

At 9-11 we had about 10,000 Pilots and furloughed about 1100. This does not count the second round of Pilots which the company tried to furlough with a FM claim, but the arbitrator disagreed and they came back fairly quickly. Counting them would put the number at about 1300 as posted above.
The company is very different now and in my opinion even a 9-11 type of event would not cause a 10% furlough for the following reasons:
- Huge retirements coming up.
- We are now a much leaner operation.
- back then we had FEs that were slowly converting to FOs. The 9-11 event greatly accelerated the FE retirements.
I would say 1000 pilots below is a good safety cushion.
That said, never say never.

Either way, a 717 base west of the Rockies would be great..

True, but those gates are already supporting the RJs on the shuttle. We would just replace the RJs with Mainline.

I think 1500 is a good safety number..but that's just cause we're hiring so many so fast that we'll have 500 in the training pipeline if DL ever has to make that decision to furlough again..(I hope not!). I remember they announced the first 400 about 2 weeks after 9/11.
Do we still have a "flow down" to the left seat of a CPZ 175 or did that die when DL sold them or when the last CPZ pilot "flows up"?
That "flow down" is the only real furlough protection in my humble opinion.

1310 total furloughees to be exact..the shortest duration was about 5 months (6/03 to 12/03). I think the first opportunity to recall was around 07 with many bypassing for over 10 yrs (as we all know).
