Am I reading it wrong?
I asked someone today who would know, can I leave it at that? Beef up dtw to cover the flying. Decision later. If they do open it then what does that mean for the dtw pilots? At least a far as school house and staffing is concerned I think that's the plan.

That's why I say I hope this goes gangbusters on the west coast. It is a great high cycle jet with good runway performance, maybe not the range of an rj but good enough.

They have most of the B concourse used by RJ's now that the 717 could use if they shuffled the RJ's back over to E. They also have enough throughput at the airport to add at least another entire bank of arrivals and departures.

I don't get how that solves gate space issues though. Doesn't matter where we put the base, we would still use the same amount of gates in LAX and SEA. Not sure I believe the rumor, but there must be something to it if CR is saying SLC is in the running. (Lots of CR9 flying and 319 flying in SLC that the 717 could be doing).
Solves gate issues in lax, sea, sfo, lga, dca, bos.

In 2009 our wonderful executive team put all their eggs in the AS codeshare basket, then we voted yes to extend it in C2012. From that point in time CAL opened a 737 operation to augment the UAL WB flying while AS, AA and UAL maneuvered as required to maintain a strong foot print out west. Makes one wonder what would have happened had our fNWA and DALPA MEC worked together to end the AS codeshare. In the later case DAL would have had access to fNWA Terminal 2. Not trying to live in the past, but sometimes saying no is good for the company as a whole. Remember execs only have to shine to the shareholders during their tenure and then hit the EJECT button. You and I are stuck here for 25-40 years. We are now a smarter group, I am happy to see the MEC focused in scope. Not sure how we will resolve the LAX gate space.

If this is the case I would think LAX would get it because it is already providing the Gates for the Compass flights that do this now.

The dispatch from the Kremlin (Crew resources update) also mentioned SLC. This would seem to be a long-shot but for some reason the company seems hesitant to open domiciles in LAX. For example LAX will have three 777 departures this summer with no domicile - DTW has a 777 domicile with zero departures. There is talk of a LAX 777 micro-base, what is a micro-base?

Scoop, in May of last year RA said that he felt there would be a SEA 717 base, even though Network did not agree with him.

Default Vacation Month

Fellas, March bidding question:

I have vacation in March. Should I bid reserve?

4 days of vacation = 13.0 hours of credit in March
80 hr ALV for March = 67 hours left for a potential reserve line, no?

How many days would I be on reserve?
Would my guarantee still be 80 if I didn't fly above 67 hours? (e.g. I could fly 30 hours and get paid for 80 or fly 72 hours and get paid for 85)

Thanks

The chief executives of American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines recently joined together to quietly lobby the Obama administration to restrict access by fast-growing rivals based in the Persian Gulf. They cited unfair competition from the Middle East carriers Emirates, Etihad Airlines and Qatar Airways, which they say receive large government subsidies that put domestic carriers at a disadvantage.
We should limit them to the same number of flights that US airlines fly to their "country", end the Bank of Boeing welfare and hit them with a tarrif for any remaining Airbus welfare, refuse to allow any "selling" of rights to/from any other country operated by them, end the "expat" tax loophole and charge them full fed rates or make them renounce, and send them a bill for their defense.

With 4 days of vacation in March and an ALV of 80 (normal Reserve guarantee of 78) you have a Reserve guarantee of 80:36 . You will be on call 16 days with 10 X-days, unless your category gets the extra X day in which you would be on call 15 days with 11 X-days.

You can fly zero hours and you will still get paid for 80:36. There is a great Reserve Calculator that figures this out for every month and takes training, vacation, and MIL LV into account. I think you can download it from the DALPA site.

It's on the info page of PBS towards the bottom. Called the Reserve proration calculator, or something close to that.

Welcome to APC. I feel honored to be the respondent of your first post.

Your description of the ALPA PAC is the brochure description. That description uses the link that you post to only discuss the money sent to incumbent legislators. When you look at that same report and study where the money goes for non-incumbents, the money goes almost exclusively to left wing democrats.

Money spent on incumbents is simply purchasing access to people in power. Money spent on non-incumbents shows where ALPA PAC wants the legislative branch to move each election. Based on the overwhelming amount of non-incumbent money going to left wing democrats, ALPA PAC is not pilot partisan. ALPA PAC is a left wing support group.

Boxer, Franken, Klobuchar, Durbin, Reid, Schumer, et al

Nope. No "very far" leftists there.

Sleeper, thanks for pointing this out. And on your first post, no less. Thanks to your info, I'm quitting the PAC. Cool, another 30 bucks a month towards hookers and blow for my 6-year-old and me.
