I must be missing something. After filling up my 401K I had about $5700 left over. The deposit shows a little more than $2100. More than 60% taken out.

For me = PS Gross - 401k - 40.55% - DPMA dues

The $$ you put in your 401k do not escape:

FICA at 7.65%
ALPA at 1.9%
DPMA

He's saying that although the money you put in a 401K is fed tax deferred, it is still subject to SS, medicare taxes and DPMA contributions in the month it was earned.

That way you don't have the "do I put in for a GS or WS?" decision, where the pilot has to make a best guess based on a lot of factors, and after the fact never has to say "had I but known that junior guys were getting GSs then I wouldn't have put in a WS"... or vice versa.

I'm not even sure that I am in favor of such a system. All pay systems have their pros and cons. But this is a discussion that will no doubt continue.
Well you could have a true bid system in that you can offer to work that trip for 1.25 x or 1.5 x pay etc. That would be a true capitalistic system.

Just wanted to let you know that the profit sharing amounts can be "back doored" in away. Tomorrow's regular paychecks are on Deltanet and there is an amount under the YTD column already for the profit sharing.

I suspect the peeps that keep clamoring for 1.5 over 80 have no clue how to work the gs system. I'm about 60% in category and I averaged about 149hrs pay on 42hrs of block per month for 2014. I did almost as well when I was 80% in category. (and a certain someone on this forum, who is almost the bottom in category, also does very well.)

There is no way I want to fly 80hrs and then pick up overtime at a measly 1.5.

I say really learn the system we have and maximize for effect!

Thx P3.

Also hearing strong rumors that co. wants to get rid of dropping to zero time... that will be an automatic no vote from me... been doing that for 10yrs... it's the corner stone of my system and has greatly increased my pay, time off, and qol.

(Otherwise I would have been stuck flying all weekends/holidays/red-eyes for 10-15yrs!)

No thanks.
