You will have narrow it down geographically. Most LAX pilots do not live in
Los Angeles county but in the surrounding counties. I would say from most to least this is where the LAX guys live:

San Diego
Orange County
Ventura County
Riverside County

Now obviously some guys do live in LA proper, and there are also some in San Bernardino and a few up North in Santa Babara also.

All of the above areas have a huge variety of housing and schooling options. Traffic is horrible but it is reliably horrible so you know what to expect. Obviously the closer you are to the airport the easier your drive will be. Many San Diego guys actually fly up vice driving.

Southern Orange county has some really nice areas and is not too bad of a drive but very pricey.

I recommend narrowing down search and hooking up with a local Realtor.

I agree with Scoop on the where to live... The top 3 places are San Diego, Orange County and Ventura County. I'm not a Riverside County fan.. I was born and raised in SoCal and I own a home in SoCal. If you have any questions on the area please feel free to PM me.. :)

But number one is Santa Barbara County....... It is worth every penny

to make it a bit more specific, we have friends in the temecula area so thats one area on our list, is that too far of a commute to LAX to be feasible?

also, is Oceanside/Carlsbad area feasibly drivable? I kinda had it in my mind that it was a bit too long of a drive up to LAX. maybe I just need to shift my ideas about committing from UT norms to CA standards!

And I never even really considered santa barbara county! You using a helo to get to work?!!!

Just north of Gaviota State Park, where 101 turns north, and a long drive to LAX, but who cares.....you'd never want or need to go to work again!

I live in Temecula.... still somewhat affordable, but great schools. And you should always be able to make it to LAX in less than 3 hours. I fly corporate out of SNA which consistently an 1+10-1+40 drive. If you don't have any kids and don't need a larger home I personally would not live in Temecula. But if you are starting or already have a family you will like it here. Housing costs are going up though!

Any suggestions for Surface that is on but locked on black screen. Power switch has no effect

I had the same thing 3 days ago.

1. Put it away in disgust.
2. Hope that 2 hours later it miraculously cures itself. Mine did!
3. Fill out a FCR.

Hold the power button for a long time - like 20 seconds. Try that a few times then try to use it later. It should miraculously start working again. Mine did.
