Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
I've been on reserve by choice for all but a few months since the ALV+15 came out, both on the 7ER and 73N categories. Never flown over ALV without my choosing to do so. I was very junior on the reserve on the 7ER but less so on the 73N.

Guys,
The only reason some of our pilots are getting multiple Green-slips is because the company made a conscious decision to delay hiring a while back. The short term goal of producing a quarterly profit outweighed properly manning the airline.
We are now hiring as fast as we can in order to properly man the airline. We all benefit by this increased hiring. Except the 747/777As (Sorry Timbo and Carl
).
Is anyone suggesting that we make it easier and less costly for the company to run an undermanned operation?

The more choice the better. Inefficiencies in the system that produce what some see as a good deal leads to more choice. When you seek out and mitigate those inefficiencies (in which a pilot that chooses to trade seniority for either more money or quality of life as a senior first officer) you motivate an otherwise happy f/o to upgrade to captain denying a junior pilot that wanted the captain seat. The result is less happy senior first officers, less happy junior captains and more happy management.
Don't let envy lead us to a place where we are all limited to the same lifestyle.

I flew ALV+9 this month against my will. I did YS in the end but that was only to choose WHICH trip I was going to fly not whether I was going to fly. I am pretty sure next month will be the same result looking at coverage in my category. Not exactly looking forward to it. I'm a QOL over extra pay kind of guy. Any trades in QOL work rules for a "raise" in the next contract will result in a no vote from me. Working more and thus making more isn't really a pay increase although it sometimes is disguised and sold as one.
