I haven't seen a DIY per diem calculator recommended here so thought I'd pass along my experience. I've used the watsoncpagroup.com free calculator in the past and was pleased but it doesn't have international destinations. Perdiemcalc.com is $24.95 regular price and $21.95 if you use the coupon code "THREEOFF". Both calculators are pretty simple, you just enter your layovers and training (if out of domicile) and they calculate everything for you.

Perdiemcalc has detailed TurboTax instructions and a deduction log. If you are on top of things you can log as you go throughout the year and it takes no time when tax time comes around.

The 319 is not like a MD88 or 737. You're in for a treat. I'd rather ride the JS on a Bus than a coach seat. Plenty of room for your luggage.

Second that, lots of space!

I almost made a call to planning but my patience was a virtue. If your conversion is APR and PBS is showing you bidding for your old base in APR then I would give them a ring.

When you say up until the very end...do you mean then end of the bid window or the end of the month?

I will call CR tomorrow, thank you. And thank you to all of you who added input and tried to help. This forum is the best resource we have for timely info/guidance...narcissistic Nancy's' notwithstanding.

Holy crap, have gotten 3 robo calls to both cell and home phone now for Inverse Assignments. I was totally asleep, and it's woken me up twice now as well as wife. Might as well post now that I'm awake...

NONE of the 3 trips were remotely possible for me to make, and in fact this last call would be violating crew-rest I'm pretty sure...

I need to take my home phone off that CS list, it's nothing but a PITA.
Would of been OK flying trip but just no way to make it, commute.

So, only 5 Mar, not a heavy weekend or anything...

Thanks guys, glad to hear it. Last time I commuted home on a 320 the gate agent assigned me the emergency exit row window seat. I thought she totally hooked me up until I got to the seat. If I was a paying passenger I'd have been angry for paying extra. The seat pad was only half the thickness of the rest of the seats on the plane and there was no arm rest on the bulkhead side of the seat. Most uncomfortable coach seat I've ever had to sit in.

So having never converted, how does one know the actual month they convert? Login to icrew to bid your schedule and *SURPRISE* have a new base? I assume if training is involved then it is probably a hard date.

On the Crew Resources page one of the tabs on the left says conversions. There you will find lists for the upcoming month on who is converting.

JB guy and I both rode upfront on a United 320 from LA-SF, still plenty of room.

At night, I use the "do not disturb" function and put everyone I want to be able to get a hold of me on my favorite numbers so they can get thru any time. I even put CS in my favorites if I'm looking for a GS. Google Voice also has some good call-screening options.

IA robocalls come from the VRU number, not from the CS number...
