Okay I tried the math on the scientific calculator and that was easy. Angle degrees + sin button x speed = crosswind and angle degrees + cos x speed equal headwind/tailwind. Yeah. I did math.

That is absolutely the number one thing the EFB needs. Its asinine to expect crews to go heads down with a pen on a piece of paper trying to trace lines and arcs with an imaginary line in a shaky flight deck every time the tower calls out winds (regular and gusts) trying to figure out legality that changes by the knot or degree.

Swap With the Pot

When can we swap with the pot for next month..?

All PCS options (drop, white slip and swaps, in that order) start 0700 ATL time, every 5 hours until 2200, on the 20th.

You can do pilot to pilot swaps as soon as schedules are posted in iCrew.

Number of degrees off rwy heading + 20 = % of speed. For caution's sake, add a knot to the result for winds over 30 degrees off heading.

For a 20kt wind: Rule of thumb result vs (actual)

20deg: 40% = 8kt (sine is .34 = 6.8kt)
30deg: 50% = 10kt (perfect = 10kt)
40deg: 60% = 12 +1=13kt (sine is .64 = 12.8kt)
50deg: 70% = 14 +1=15kt (sine is .76 = 15.2kt)
70 degrees: 90% = 18+1=19kt (sine is .93 = 18.6kt)
80 or more degrees: 100% = 20kt (sin is .98 = 19.6kt)

Is that what you replaced the forum with? Bad call.

The slowplay screen name is back. Standing by for spin. If slowplay is around, you know something bad is on its way from Dalpa.

Could you do us all a favor and take your bully act somewhere else? Slowplay posted some useful advice.

Thats a good rule of thumb, but I'm talking about those times when you need to know exactly because it may or may not be legal. We need to know head, tail and cross winds and usually when it matters most is when its changing every few seconds. There are plenty of avation specific wind apps out there that let you roll in runway, wind and direction including gusts and can tell you exactly the head, tail and crosswind components of steady state and gusts in about a second or two. Its time to make the leap in technology

I'm sure that's a great one. I'd just like to see the company put one on the glitchomatic tablet that we're "legally" allowed to use.

Good god man...Most of us went to public shcools....I'd have to take my shoes off to figure that out and it would prpbably still be wrong😝
