And also-

What a great WWII special on history. I wish I had HD.

My grandfather flew the B-29 in the Tokyo raids. Truly amazing what that generation accomplished... really puts things in perspective.

Another little oversight that we need to have fixed. If they are cheap enough not to feed that passengers on a 6+ hr flt that is not our problem. It is our problem if our blood sugar is dropping b/c of no food.
Any flight over 5+00 gets food.

If memory serves (!), there were something like 11 MILLION draftees during WWII. While I'm certainly not denigrating their service AT ALL, I think it adds some much needed perspective to "the Greatest Generation."

Personally, I think the all-volunteer force RIGHT NOW (and for the past decade) is truly the GREATEST GENERATION.

These men and women are signing up knowing they'll likely go into harms way, and no one is compelling them in the least. That's truly "nut-up-or-shut-up" patriotism in action.

On another note, I could have looked at my rotation and seen if a meal was provided. I just assumed there would be one with that flight time but I know what I do when I ass....u....me.............!:)

Dang, I meant to record that. I used to watch the All Hitler All The Time History channel near constantly but haven't probably seen it in years. Its been replaced with American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance, Lost, etc. Now that I think about it I guess its been since before I was married. Its a great channel. Maybe I can sneak it in.

On another note, today is the 17th, don't forget to double check your benefits enrollment.

I did that flight last month. Captain called ops and told them to bring crew meals. They were reluctant but finally did bring them. He did get a call from CPO the next day as we were 10 minutes late out of the gate, but he told them the issue and they didn't push it. So I would suggest calling ops and requesting crew meals early...no food, no go.

They seem to be doing that a lot out of JFK. We had the SFO 6+53 block and did not even have enough meals for FC! Called got the crew meals after a little tiff. They did not want to let the non-rev's eat in FC to leave on time. Again that was a non-starter. Called OCC and he told the gate to put the stupid delay on them and to cater the jet correctly. They literally would not move until the delay was not on them........
