I noticed two things I'd never seen before:
Shadow bidder (shadowing whom?) and RES line with an (S) under the RES days....is that for short call?

A shadow bidder is someone who is leaving the equipment or one that is coming that will not be qualified on the jet for the bid period. The (s) is to note that it is a shadow award so that the LOT is filled up to rev guarantee or block ALV.

Sorry, had the spelling wrong on the cell phone...I think Graham is also one of the hang ups.

My guess is it will take this xmas season and about a year after the next AE before they throw in the towel and give us the DAL-N policy. It will take that many cancelled flights over xmas and that many NEW commuters calling in sick from the DAL-S side before Dickson (and higher) will listen.

My $0.02, hope I am wrong about Dickson.

Not sure who does not like it down here, but I am told that hell needs to get a lot colder for them to even consider it.

Just took a look at the NY ER B schedule and man there are some heinous lines. Fly an all nighter back from the west coast and turn that night to an international trip. Is that legal? It sure ain't safe.

That is just sick. I am sure it is "legal" Guess you will get first and third break!

If we are not increasing total positions company wide, we would need to cut positions from somewhere else. Me thinks that this was them admitting they were adding more positions than pilots. (Well hoping) ;)

I like your reasoning. Lets hope it goes that way (ie hiring). Regarding the MD90/A320 swap, I'm not sure but seem to recall there are 16 MD's based out of SLC to be swapped for a like number of 320's in MSP. Yet it's implied that the 320 category in MSP isn't really reducing due to increased aircraft utilization. Will there in fact be 16 A320's based out of SLC or some other arrangement?

Either that or come down with FU-DL Fatigue flu.

Dropping the f-word a few times on bullcrap like that will teach them....

I say move here, I will gladly commute to a line on the 320!

NO! You stay on the 757/767 down in ATL! I want DTW 320 B back. ;) :p

johnso29 11-16-2009 05:04 PM

Although I'd go to MSP or SLC too. I just want to get back to the 320. :)

forgot to bid 11-16-2009 05:18 PM

I wonder if a lot of DTW guys switch to NYC/ATL, then the 330 becomes more attainable. So people move into the 330, then the rest of DTW becomes more seniority friendly and commuters that were going to a ever more senior ATL move towards DTW, especially if there is a 777 base there.... I just wonder/hope if its a wash. You know when your faced with commuting or you are a commuter you just see the world different. I'd love NYC ER again, but it depends on what DTW or MEM offers, etc. I think guys need to bone up on bidding on % in an AE, I know on my MD I will.

As far as DTW, if you're driving an hour to your condo, that's too far. There are some very nice areas (Canton, Novi, Plymouth) that are only 20 minutes from the airport with very good deals. I wouldn't reccomend wasteland or Pontiac, though Livonia is good.

DTW is a good place. ATL is what sucks. Especially the 88. I mean the Boeings are phenomenal, the Airbuses are great, the DC9 is old because its a good safe plane despite being a crotch rocket, the 88 is just a screw job. They took a good plane in the 9 and tried to stretch it into an intercontinental jet and failed miserably. Its stupid dangerous. Lethal. Explosive. I'd run from that plane, especially in ATL. I'd be bidding to sit sideways on the 727 in the desert all day than to be ATL 88 B. And if there is an A320 base in ATL, I might start saying the same about that flying coffin... if it comes here.

:D ;)

So if they are not going to draw down A320 MSP despite moving planes, then that is a very good thing.

As far as I'm concerned, they can have it. The steak isn't bad, the chicken's okay, the mushroom pasta will make you retch. If I was a million miler I'd be screaming at the top of my lungs.

I'd just like to say that the S2B thing for a family member over the holidays is nice. But I also like Republic Airways contract, 4 hours for flying on a holiday tacked on to whatever you make on the month.

Did the "evening" flight from JFK to LAS the other day with a scheduled block of 6+09 and there was bupkus for crew meals. I thought it was an oversight and was going to write it up until I read that you get the same meal as the highest class of service for a crew meal. Well, if they don't give FC a meal/snack, you don't get anything either!!
