I just know that in '87, you always wore a headset, faithfully guarding comm. #2.:D

As one Captain briefed my on my Engineer OE:

"Your job is to get the paper and make sure you don't run number 2 out of gas!"

All engines center tank! Make a connection before you break a connection.... On my '8' oral the Feds spent 45 minutes on the fuel panel mock up (10 tanks)... man, I thought I was doomed. Thanks for getting the paper (no Herald).

Yup. The idea of touching, let alone actually using, community headsets is sort of, well ... causes twitching for me at least.

I agree. I will use my own headset, with my own germs, thank you.

Hotel room is like the cockpit. No problem with that kind of community sharing. There's nothing in a hotel room that's like a headset, snug over your ears and a few millimeters from your lips.

i always used my own earpiece on the 320/330 but always plugged in the one onboard before I left. The only thing worse was to walk into the cockpit and find a full trash bag. At my old job, the captain had to sign the logbook so it was easy to find out who left it. I would take the bag of trash and stuff it in his mailbox with a note saying "you left this on the aircraft , I thought you might want it"

I heard DAL's first A350 dudes are going to Toulouse next week for their type training.
It has been a very long time since Delta touched anything new!

Speaking of getting germs on layovers, there was a guy who was called, "Captain Duct Tape" because when he laid over in Bombay, before he showered, he would put the tape over his eyes, ears and mouth! He was afraid of getting any of that water into his system!
