As with many things in this biz, youll know the answer when you retire. But as someone jr to you.....I feel strongly that your best option is jumping ship.

Is this not another alter ego flying problem? Delta cuts international capacity and parks widebodies. Organic international growth hasn't been seen for some time at Delta while other airlines are getting 777-300's that are "too big to work on our network" according to RA.

Shouldn't ALPA be asking that we all write letters to our government officials and send with the letters to block the middle eastern carries because it's taking american jobs?

To add insult to injury, the money Delta spends on these subletted flying operations is money that would have gone into Delta pilots profit sharing checks.

Delta Air Lines, Inc. Partners With Aeromexico To Expand Flight Operations

Ed,

I fully agree with all of the above but the last statement. I believe the purchase of a % of another airline is a balance sheet transaction, not a P&L transaction. It would be similar to taking money out of your savings account to purchase a new car; it wouldn't effect your current pay but instead the assets under your name.

Somebody with more accounting experience please correct me if I'm wrong.

We don't need to fund our contract gains with givebacks in PS when RA has seen his pay increase 700% and Delta is pulling in more than a BILLION per quarter.

THIS!…and no more large RJ's…not one

Evidently I gave you your dollar ride in 38s! Ran across it in a box of OLD AF stuff when I moved. Would post it on here, but it includes porn.:D

NWA was a ticket broker too. As a business owner you have to ask yourself, "If I can make 50% profits with minimal liability and less use of own assets using partnerships, should I?" The answer is HELL YES! That is why RA is getting paid what he is getting paid. As long as RA is in town, our mainline international growth will be in the form of network growth via JVs, code shares and investments like GOL, AM, VA, KLM/AF. Am I missing anything?

What are you missing? China is on the horizon. Just think how well those Chinese carriers could feed our domestic network:rolleyes:

I probably shouldn't say this, but I'm almost fine with more large RJ's......it's the JV's that I'm worried about.

The RJ problem will self correct itself in the next few years with the shortage of pilots to fly them, the JV deals mean no more WB growth for Delta.

Purple Drank 05-09-2015 04:53 PM

Yep. Look at the MSP base.

That's the future of Delta if we roll over on JVs.

A domestic 757 base with a couple token 767 flights...soon to be eliminated in favor of a 737 base. I was there the other day and AF brought in an A340 for the CDG run.

To be honest, I'm fine with that. As long as we get a sh!tload MORE MONEY and MORE TIME OFF. Otherwise, RA can take his JVs (under which he has proven to be as untrustworthy as Iran) and shove them.

True dat...especially with the "drive an 18 wheeler through it proctections our JV has...now apply that to the small end "you fly some big RJs if we can have a bunch more at DCI".
Why would DALPA want in any way to hurry a deal...time value of money and all that being on our side...especially RE profit sharing.

I'd much rather live with status quo (at least for this fiscal year) rather than fund a COLA raise with PS and productivity concessions.
