Thanks again, the continuing discussion was extremely informative. I feel like I've got a good handle on the bank and GS pay rules now.

This is not true. As you say, you bank hours and not pay. If you bank an hour as an FO, you lose one hour of pay that month at your FO pay rate. If you later withdraw that hour as a Captain, you add one hour of pay that month at your Captain pay rate.

You still worked the exact same hour for the pay. You simply time shifted when you do the work. If you want more time off at a later date works well.

I can even hear them talk fine and carry on a conversation because they are screaming over the wind noise and speaker. I just shake my head in disbelieve at these guys. Wish the company would start embracing modern technology and put hot mikes on our airplanes. Every time I talk to somebody higher up about this it falls on deaf ears (literally...pun intended)
His response: "Maybe you should take those earplugs out." (I have worn them on every flight from pushback to shutdown since the day I started flying Boeings.) |

I was having trouble hearing a captain once because of his speaker. I said, "I can't hear you."

Not that it helps me much, as I am at -28 and haven't had a positive bank balance in 15 years! |
What happens if your bank is negative when you retire?

With all due respect, what was the captain supposed to do?
