What (if any) obligation do I have re backup flights (a la "unable to commute" and/or "call in honest" for commuting)? Does that answer change if one (or more) of the planned flight(s) is offline? DCI?

I guess I'm asking, does having a PS seat change the equation? "What if" the flight I'm PS on delays or cancels--what's my status?

[I get that the scheduled DH flight could also delay/cancel, and so it "shouldn't make any difference"--but I suspect it does....]

If you are on a PS DH deviation that meets all of the DH criteria then you are 100% covered. You would do the exact same thing you would do if your scheduled DH has issues - call scheduling ASAP and explain your situation.

Be advised, I am referring to PS DH Deviation which requires a Delta or DCI flight scheduled through I-crew. If you are deviating offline you are on your own.

I don't know enough about this thing at this point to render a decision one way or the other, but your contention is silly.
My point exactly, they are not being terminated because they can't. Hence this POS TA. They can't fire them but if this passes they can threaten their certificates.

As for a bank causing people to fly sick, what horse hockey. Every pilot knows that flying "sick" or with just a little congestion can result in life altering damage and and end to ones' flying career. At the least it could mean 6 months out for a blown ear drum. Hardly anyone is that stupid. Hardly... except maybe the NC.... :roll eyes:

Thanks, Scoop. "100% covered," as in if I play by the rules (at least an hour prior, has a backup if the originally scheduled DH had a backup, etc.), then I get paid even if I don't make the first non-DH leg? (And it's Scheduling's problem to both cover the leg I'm missing and get me to wherever I need to be to join the rotation?)

Understood, offline and/or not having the specified time dictated in §8.E does not count.

Just been 23k removed from my trip tmrw. The original report time was 0515. I understand I have to be available the first 6 hours, but do I need to be in position...ie: 6 hours of Shortcall type availability? 0515 isn't commutable for me. Can I go home & wait for an assignment or am I stuck here in base?

You may preference replacement flying in the computer. Preference something that is commutable and if assigned even on Day 2 or 3 of the trip the 6 hour obligation goes away.

I'm a Netjets guy who in solidarity applauds your efforts to get a fair ,equitable, and industry leading CBA,nobody has ever said this process is painless, but putting their( management ) feet to the fire is the only way to get results. The pilots have the power. Cheers out.
