Makes sense. I'm going well over, but it's all done before Halloween. So no Halloween call out. Thanks guys.

Remember if you're dropping a trip as a REG pilot you only need to APD one day of the trip to drop the whole thing. That will leave you available to WS/GS on the other days should you choose to. Remember that an APD is like a vacation day, so if it says APD for a date you can't do anything (which is the point )
I'm trying to drop a trip that starts on October 30th and ends on November 2nd. The pilot reserve levels Reqd/Avail show 26/2 on the 30th, 36/2 on the 31st, 34/24 on the 1st, and 24/25 on the 2nd. I'm willing to use my APD, but I'd prefer to keep it. Will it let me PD the trip because the reserve levels are acceptable on the 2nd, or will I have to use an APD on either the 1st or 2nd in order to drop the trip?

Unfortunately I think you're going to have a hard time dropping that trip. The coverage on 30 and 31 is so poor that it won't allow you to drop. You can always put it in and see if you get lucky, but with such poor coverage it's unlikely it will come up enough to drop.

Basically for an APD to go through it will require at least 25% of the required coverage each day to drop. The 1st and 2nd would go through but it won't drop because A and B day have such poor coverage.

A PD has to have Avail > Required for each day of the trip.

Additionally APD's have a few other restrictions around the major holidays and the super bowl. Otherwise you need a min of 25% avail vs required.

You might also try putting it up on the pilot to pilot swap board in icrew or try trading it for a different trip or smaller trips that operate on the same days and then maybe you could drop the 1st/2nd if you're able to break up the 4 days. Sometimes it takes more than 1 PCS run to accomplish what you want.

Is it awkward if one of the pilots on a rotation wears the jacket and he other does not? Seems like it would be a little odd.

Wear it when it's required. Other than that it's up to you.

There are still those that like to display their guns and tats.

It only gets weird when you cross streams.

Walk along the footpaths, bike into local villages, have the wife open and close the ancient locks, as you glide through.... Doesn't get anymore romantic. You can rent one by yourself, or share.

Worth looking into
That sounds incredible.... Can you throw a link or two to the barge outfits? What sort of preparation is needed? (You mention no boating experience needed, but what about where to dock, rules-of-the-road, etc?)

EDIT: Just saw pilotc90a's response; still happy to have any more links you may know of....

Someone else mentioned the rent your own boat. We rented ours through LeBoat.com and it was a blast. Very Leisurely, met lots of great people, drank lots of fresh wine (not that old stuff! ). Also look for locaboat.com.

If you don't want to drive yourself, try: Enchante we got a tour, and it looked very nice, and the smell from the kitchen was amazing.

Maybe the only rule you need to know is "my barge is bigger than your barge..."?
