I'm rolling thunder this month and I'm done with my reserve obligation. I know that future PB days I earn go into my bank, do I also have the option of rolling those PB days into May or am I stuck doing the standard PB drop which doesn't work since there aren't any blue days? I think the answer is "no" but figured it was worth asking.
Thanks! |

Besides the "cap" we also had a very useful "trips touching" rule. The right line of time could turn a one-week vacation into nearly a month off, at full pay. :D
That's what the pay and benefits of this career field used to provide, when Delta only made $350 Million in a good year. Now they are making BILLIONS, and we no 60% FAE pension, and we are working our butts off to try to self fund our retirement. |

The senior guys in BOS would usually bid two weeks vacation in June, July and August, touch just about all their trips, and work maybe one or two trips the entire summer, most of which they would spend on their boats.

NASA please explain how you are a 29 year old MIT grad that sucks at sentence construction, got hired at the regionals in the 90's (when you were 15), and somehow forgot to include your A380 and E190 time in your post on the UAL hired thread? You must have felt that those were not important to share with the others on that thread I'm sure.. You have no credibility here.

How could they do that? Wouldn't all the summer weeks be gone after the first round of vacation bids? That is certainly the case now.
It was a very senior oriented system. As a junior bidder it was quite possible to get a line where no trip fell within your vacation or touched it and the vacation week became valueless. You're also correct on the bidding. The summer weeks were gone in round one. Our current system is fine and more fair across the seniority range. We just need more value per week and for vacation to be pay and credit. |

A lot of guys in BOS didn't bid all the summer months in the first round, many of them were more into skiing, and would bid the Christmas, Jan and Feb weeks for their ski vacations. Remember, summer up there is only 3 months long. If you were a boater, you bid summer, if you were a skier, you bid winter vacations. As an 18 month F/E I got a week in June for my wedding. I did have to fly Christmas and Thanksgiving though. Those weeks went just as high as a June or August vacation week. |

You only got paid for touching trips on the primary and secondary vacation. Some of what's being posted is a bit of a myth. Trips were generally 3 days long back then. As we graduated to longer and longer trips they capped the trips touching pay to a limited number of days outside the actual vacation footprint.

Quick question regarding vacation after Upgrade conversion.....
I'm upgrading in Sept and have a week of vacation in January 2017. I'd rather get rid of it and pick another week to avoid getting paid for it at FO pay. Do I simply go into ICrew and drop it? Or, is there any particular number I should call? |
