Those dumb ass North guys. Let's shoot them all. Worthless pilots!

I think that about covers it for another week or so:rolleyes:

Thanks. I'm trying to get the most out of my shadow time after completing training. I haven't used "followed by" that much and while I think I'm doing it right, I'm still a bit weary.

I've got 7 days of Shadow on the calendar. I'm trying to put a 5 day starting on day 7 of the Shadow days to maximize that feature. I've looked through and found the trips that will make it work to get 6 days of trips to precede day 7 with a 5 day starting day 7, but I thought this line might make it work the easiest way:

Award pairings If Departing on Aug 4, 2016 If Pairing Length = 3 days followed by Pairings If Departing on Aug 7, 2016 If Pairing Length = 3 days Followed by If Departing on Aug 10, 2016 If Pairing length = 5 days

I then put two more bid lines in like the one above, but for different combinations (4 day, 2 day, 5 day and 2 day, 4 day, 5 day).

Think it will work? There are only three 5-day trips starting on Aug 10 so I'm going to add another set of bid lines like above, but with the option of a 4-day starting on Aug 10.

Edit: I thought that if you got awarded a trip that started on the last day of your shadow period you were paid for the whole trip. Thinking of it some more, I'm not so sure.

I'm confident you are not, although I wouldn't bet my life on it. You'd get pay only for days within the shadow period.

Here in 2016 I wonder what year it will be before I go a whole year without hearing any sort of North/South ****ing contest? 2020, 2025? Eventually I suppose we'll run out of fNWA or fDelta pilots, but theoretically that could be 2007 hires from fDelta and if they were 25 when hired.... all the way out to 2047! (assuming the retirement age isn't 80 by then!)

I'll be the last man standing from the merger in 2048. If I think about it, I'll bring it up to my FO (or pilot watching dog). Lol. :D

When I was a new hire in 1985, the North East guys I flew engineer for in BOS and MIA were still talking about how they got F'd in their 1972 merger, as if it happened last month!

That and most of them had quit ALPA over it, so most of them were non-members and telling me I should quit ALPA as well, because, "ALPA will Fk you! They are going to put you on a B Scale, just watch!" (we were in contract negotiations at the time, and sure enough, signed the B scale in Aug. 1986)

If they had told me that in 20 years, ALPA would sit by and do nothing while my pay was cut 42% and my retirement plan was flushed down the toilet, I would have said they were on crack. But when I look what's been happening to our contracts since 1985 and the B scale, I can only see 4 years, 2001-2004, that our pay/benefits were 'Good'.

Not great, but good. 4 years out of 31.

Not a very good batting average for ALPA.

watchu talkin' bout? How long have you been here? Didn't you just get hired? Not sure how you can assess "more common" with your small sample size.

I've had (anecdotally) half South and half North captains offer to do walkarounds. It's been consistent since the merger. No change in the pattern. I guess a few more offer in the summertime when it's not raining.

WGAS it's the FOs job. Just like its the CAs job to deal with MX when I find something. And no I don't think it can wait until we get to ATL. I'll be getting food during this delay, can I get you anything?

It's called a 70/30 walk around. If the temp is above 70 degrees there is a 30% chance the CA will offer up a walk around.
