I wonder why you are asking on an internet forum vice asking the Captains you share a cockpit with for multiple days at a time. Again, they are a great source of info on all things Delta related.

All good guesses, if not exactly useful.

Im a Jr Capt and Im trying to help the new hire FO.

On a related note, when I was an FO, I noticed many crusty Capts had no idea.

I think you're giving more credit to Capts then they deserve. My experience has been that many Capts have much less knowledge about these things then even I as a relatively new hire have. I would second the input about asking your mentor but would also say that this forum was a tremendous help for me when I was a newbie.

3 quick examples (out of many)
- just last month I had to show a Capt how to use the swap board and explain what an APD was and how it worked around a holiday.
- I had a junior Capt who's only line on his bid was "Award Pairings" because he thought if he put any preferences in it would limit him from getting a line.
- I had a 747 Capt that I met in a bar in my home town ask me if I'd ever heard of something called a Green Slip.

Allow myself to quote myself. In the case I'm asking about, I thought I knew the answer but either the rotation is not updating, or I'm wrong. Thought I'd ask on here.

Feel free to keep taking potshots. Answers with PWA references would be appreciated as well.

Can any DL folks chime in on the seasonal ATL-ANC run? I've been seeing plenty of open seats on those flights but wondering what AC they run that with and if they get into weight restrictions?

Thanks!

You will get paid overblock when block+DH > ADG or the TAFB trip rig if that is more than ADG.

Bonus, if you are on a block trip and overblock by an hour on leg 1 but underblock on leg 2 by an hour, you still get an extra hour of pay.

I'm amazed at some of the things that FO's don't know who've been here a while. Most Capt's have been here long enough they can share some good gouge on the contract, PBS, etc...

Here you get the correct answer 99% most of the time.

You could ask the capt and get answers all over the board. Then of course it is followed by a bunch of unsolicited advice on everything from how to land to finances. I'll stick with the forums.

The beauty of the Forums is that they are normally self correcting and when bad info gets put out - it is usually corrected very quickly.

Nothing wrong with an all of the above strategy:

Post a question of a Forum.
Check the DALPA Scheduling Reference Handbook
Ask fellow crewmembers
And if you are really desperate - but not serious, have a law degree and know how to speak in "Wheras" you might even try the PWA.

Anyone catch the hidden song reference? :D

In classic lawyerese....it depends. 12.L is your overall guide. Because you said the total was 21:00, it would seem that your total credit is based on the average daily guarantee for a 4 day trip. In that case, merely blocking one hour over scheduled would not increase the total credit as you are merely eating into your ADG.

If,.for example, the 2 hour difference (19:00 BL/21:00 TTL) was solely based upon 2:00 of rotation credit (see 12.K), then you would have to overblock by 2 hours and 1 minute to see the total credit increase past 21:00 (same as ADG)....unless your overblock is on the last leg and extends you past the scheduled block-in time of the original rotation whereby you will kick in rotation credit (1:3.5 as described in 12.K) to the tune of 1 minute for every 3 1/2 minutes you exceed the scheduled block-in for the last leg.

There are numerous provisions that can account for the 2 hour difference (ADG, deadhead legs, 1:2 duty rigs) so it is a hard question to answer without seeing the actual rotation. However, a 21:00 hour rotation is likely based on ADG as mentioned above.

Clear as mud?

Very, very clever. You sir are correct. :)

But to answer your question I am not.

For those who haven't quite figured it out yet - no rush. ;)
