That's great, SIN is awesome. They do a lot of cool stuff with that jet. My buddy flies SFO-TLV on that thing. I expect once the KAL JV gets going, we'll pull the NRT-SIN flight for good, like we just did with BKK and TPE.

Yes and even though they codeshare with SQ they are still flying that route. They said SFO has exceeded their expectations, I wonder if LAX will be profitable as well???

the management term 'exceed expectations' isn't automatically synonymous with 'profitable'. it could simply mean the loss leader isn't as much of a loss as expected.

the report says they are having to impose operational restrictions. that means payload optimization in our world....so the aircraft is making the trip only by operating to the right of the sweet spot on the yield(profitability) curve.

fyi. the 77LR flew Mumbai to atl. about 8500mi if I recall. usually full or near full. my longest leg was 18:42. still landed with 20K lbs fob. :)

Quick question about LGA for those of you who have dealt with it a lot lately, has (car) traffic leaving and going to the airport because of construction been just awful or doable? Thinking of going to the city this week.

Its been completely hit or miss. It tends to be OK in and out early in the day, building to potential gridlock by the early to mid afternoon. In the late evening the gridlock dies down, but the bus to P10 parking lot is non-existent. It's such a hole.

With the usual reminder that the outbound Grand Central Parkway after 1500 or so is only usable by an M-1 with a full load of HEAT.

It was a hole 30 years ago. It will be a hole 30 years from now. Give it a bath, put a pink bow and some lipstick on it, it's still a pig.

I have a spillover trip at the end of June. I brought up my schedule and clicked on the airplane icon and got the message "NOT OPERATING - REPLACED BY XXXX"

I looked up the new rotation number, looked like the exact same trip as the one I had previously been awarded but no A or B assigned against it. Any idea what's going on with this rotation?

hammer189 06-02-2017 04:55 AM

Happens to carry out trips all the time. They change flight numbers and flight times by a minute or 2. All changes must be done by the 4th or 5th.

It'll be back on your line, maybe with a new rotation number. You'll probably also have some legs or even an extra day added, usually in the next bid period. Anything that affects the next bid period needs to be changed before the new bid opens IIRC.

FWIW I thought they could only change the portion of the schedule in the next bid period but I've had them change stuff in the current bid period too. Called ALPA scheds and they showed me the PWA reference they says they can do that too. Carry-out trips can be a real crap-shoot.
