Jumpseat after customs

I think this was addressed in a flight Ops email a while back but I can't find it now. I remember that after an international leg ending a rotation you have to go back through security (KCM ok) before you can jumpseat home. What if you did a one day international turn and went through KCM at your home airport that morning? I think that I would be good to skip security since I did an FAA screening that day. Does that sound right? References please if you have them so I can remember for next time. Thanks!

When you come back from an international trip there are two paths to take. You either exit outside of security (and re-enter thru KCM) or you go thru security to remain in the secure area. You do not have the choice of remaining in the secure area without taking one of these options. I think some major airports might have a KCM near international security. If you are doing this thru ATL, that might be the case. I don’t know for sure.

I think there is one more path applicable to this situation. It is possible to do a turn through a pre-clearance destination (i.e.YYZ, NAS, AUA) whereby you would not need to pass through US Customs at, say ATL, JFK, DTW. As long as you screened in the US that day and just did a turn, there is no requirement to re-screen. However, if you started the day in, say, YYZ, NAS or AUA, then you are supposed to rescreen before your jumpseat flight.

Of course, it seems DLNet only signed up for the 1Mb OneDrive cloud storage program so trying to put my finger on an archived source doc is proving to be a bit more of a challenge than I expected.

It's called Long Beach Fail Operational. When it says FLARE and the autopilot realizes it can't, it turns off, you can try to go around but if it cant flare it aint gonna go around. So you're going to land. You just are.

Fail Operational. :D

He is probably talking about the cheese grater in ATL. It's a third option. I don't have a reference but was told that you still had to go through a screening point coming off a turn.

The cheese-grater is now verboten for us, even for company business/deadhead travel. I remember the cheese-grater "police" politely redirecting you to KCM a few years ago when the access policy changed.
