In the time I was there I never heard any such clarification. The "company shopping cart full, pilot cart not so much" was repeated a few times. If there was any clarification to the contrary...I never heard it.

It's beginning to sound as if the TA that will be discussed by the MEC this week represents a very clear failure of 'proactive engagement' with the company. My hope is that if it doesn't live up to the expectations outlined in the contract survey, that the MEC will not provide it to the membership for ratification. The whole point of the MEC reviewing it is to make sure it passes muster, not to just rubber stamp for a general vote- regardless of the content.
If the company is indeed 'sitting on their wallets', then I think that we need to take a long and hard look at the process by which this 'last, best offer' came about, and consider making changes to the way we as pilots approach sec. 6 negotiations. I don't think we've ever been in a better position to 'wait it out' and in the meantime revise our strategy for obtaining our rightful share of our labors, now and going forward. |
