Several questions about swap with the pot.

1. When I put in drop #xxxx, then add #xxx I can put in a generic *3 or *4 for any three or four day trip. Question is will the computer view a true 2 day trip that lands at 2350 (releases at 0020) as a 2 day or a 3 day trip? In open time it calls it a 3 day....just wasn’t sure about swap with the pot. It would be a bummer to try and dump a 12 credit 2 day for a *3 to get at least 15:45 only to be surprised to get a 1030 credit 2 day trip that lands at midnight.

2. Under the add section there are multiple lines for you to input as many “add” trips as you want. If I list several trips here do all the trips I list have to be available for It to process or just one of the trips I list? (Hope that makes sense)

1. Just like it shows in open time; you can pick up a 10.30 3-day trip if it releases after midnight but before 0200.

2. If you input multiple trips on a line, every trip must be available for the swap to go through. If you don't want multiple trips, just add lines below. That's why the swap template has multiple lines. Each is a separate request.

Guys,

Under the current DL contract, what are pilot's saying regarding the hotels the company is providing for the overnights? Just trying to make an informed comparison to the SWA mentality of almost always putting us up in crappy section 8 motels.

Thanks

Section 5 of our contract covering hotels is pretty lengthy. There are always exceptions but in general: with a 12 hour or greater layover it needs to be a branded national chain hotel located downtown. Our MEC is very involved in selection of hotels, especially in cities where there is no branded national hotel chain. In certain high-traffic markets (NYC, LA, Chicago) the 12 hour restriction can be raised to enhance pilot rest.

My very generalized opinion is Delta usually puts me into a better hotel than I'd be willing to pay for if I was road tripping with my family on a personal holiday. Case in point, I'm taking a motorcycle trip with my wife to AVL this weekend. DAL puts us up at the Renaissance right in the middle of downtown. To stay there this weekend would cost me $469/night (which is par for the course for any reputable hotel in downtown AVL over a weekend), I opted for the AirBnB 10 minutes outside of town for $180/night.

Thanks. That’s a bummer about getting a 1030 credit “3” day. I wish there was a way to avoid this when putting in for a generic trip (*4)

Takeaway. Unless you are doing the work of a line pilot in the cockpit...you are not a rla worker for determing state tax liability.

So no. I am not confirming the assertion regarding a rla worker and time of physical presence in a state.

Some states tax any reportable income. Some tax based upon physical presence in the state. And some tax if reportable income exceeds a percentage of total.

I believe ga is still a percentage of income basis for liability. Ip and pilots in traing for long courses will have witholding started by our employer as required by law.

The most important point being if you have economic activity in multiple states, probably the smartest thing to do is hire a really good cpa. Who preferably is also a tax attorney.
